Frieze Sculpture 2019 exhibit at the Rockefeller Center
Frieze Sculpture 2019 exhibit at the Rockefeller Center
I shared this post recently of the behind walls piece that is part of the Frieze Sculpture 2019 exhibit and in this post I will share some shots of some of the other pieces in this exhibit which is on display through June 28th
Starting with what is my favorite of the smaller pieces on display, now I forgot to take photos os the signs detailing all the pieces and who they were by but this piece is by Nick Cave and is an oversized Grammaphone growing from a raised fist to suggest the power to activate change

Infact I liked it so much I am sharing two shots of it, it was a rainy and overcast day so I had to crank up the ISO a little to get these shots
And behind the grammaphone you can see a piece by Paulo Nazareth called DRY CUT [from BLACKS IN THE POOL - Ruby]
Sony A7iii 31mm F5 1/60 Sec ISO 1250

This next piece is called Rest Upon and is by artist Kiki Smith and is a life sized bronze sculpture of a lamb on top of a sleeping woman – lies on the floor in the walkway between the two channel gardens,

Now I am not sure if these birds above the Channel gardens are part of this exhibit or not but I thought they were worth sharing this shot of, I kind of hope they are separate and will stay there for a while I think they are so cool

And another shot in the same area, I had not noticed these fake ducks in the water displays int he channel Gardens before

And this next piece isby Joan Miró and called Porte II

And I think thats enough for this post, I will do a follow up post with the rest of the pieces

I really like that first display by Nick Cave and the message it gives. I also love the shot of the birds...so cool!
Nice shots! It is really cool the different platforms they give for artists in the city. I think a lot of people walk past this stuff and don't really think about it. There is probably a lot of great art in our cities that we pass by every day and don't give it a second look.
I agree it is great with all the art in the city, and your right s many people never even notice the art, I know that for a fact as some of the colleagues at work see one of my photos and ask where it is and realize they walk by it every few days and have never noticed it
Thanks for the resteem Appreciated
I agree with you about the birds above Channel Garden. It was my favorite shot and I hope they stay. Thank you for sharing.
Arent they just so cool :)

They had some cool pieces here and I walked all around and thought I had seen and got shots of them all, but when I looked up about the exhibit I realized I had missed a couple, not sure how I walked all over the place lOL

Isnet just that a fab experience?? To fidn that you missed stuff & need to get back :D i mean if you did the walk throw and thought; yeah sure what effer, isnet as productive nor that flattering for the exebistion...
Im more amused about you; forgetting ;) LOL not often you do that ;) LOL
I so agree, its sparkle pops & shine :D
At least its not to big a walk from the office, not that I mind walking, so I will get back there one day and see if I can find what I missed, I am surprised I missed some of them I am normally so observant
aww a 'think' break, amount of walk? ;) Yeah do that, im not saying you missed anything importent BuuUUuT ;)
Yeah you see them cool details :D
Well a little more than a think break kind of walk its about 12 Blocks across and 6 Blocks up so probably a 15 to 20 Minute walk to get there, so I will probably revisit there before work one day ")
