Photochain Photography Contest - Animal # 3 - The Koala

This is the 3rd and last entry to the #photochaincommunity contest initiated by @runicar

For my last participation in this contest I´ve chosen a animal from one of my favorite countries. The Koala, he only lives in Australia and nowhere else on this planet. This alone makes him quite rare. The entire population is at 45,000-80,000.
Besides the Kangaroo he is the most widely used symbol of Australia.

To safe energy a Koala can sleep upto 20 hours a day and the rest of the day he spends eating. This makes him one of the laziest animals, even more lazy than a Sloth.

Since a Koala feed almost exclusively from leaves and bark of very specific eucalyptus species he needs to eat quite a lot of it. A mature Koala needs to eat between 200-400gramm of eucalyptus leaves a day.

Sometimes they get lost and end up in your garden. We´ve seen a lost Koala in a Town near the Great Ocean Road. He was sitting on a Wall in Garden and looked a bit desperate. The owner of the house tried to help him down from the Wall and onto the next tree.

Even if they look cute and cuddly, they can hurt you quite bad with their claws.
