Time For Some Moral Philosophy On Steemit: Good vs. Bad - Expectations vs. Reality [Get Ready To Be Plugged Into The Matrix!]

The power of The Matrix whale

Most moral philosophers say that right and wrong are objective facts about the world, and this is known as moral realism.

Many of my Steemian philosopher friends are concerned on Steemit about doing the right thing, and want Steemit to be an altruistic movement.

But I believe that morality on Steemit is more subjective from culture to culture and person to person, and is closer to some expression of their preferences - as per some of the comments I receive in the comments section daily.

Many come to Steemit unaware that the whales on Steemit yield such power in this benevolent dictatorship, and it morally right for articles to appear like this that make people aware of it. Sometimes on Steemit the whales are almost certainly committing major moral faults that we are not aware of.

Whale faults?

At this present moment, what do you think the most likely candidates are for the moral issues concerning whale collusion to not downvote content on Steemit? What are we currently not aware of?

As we all well know, we must do the most good that we can possibly do in life; the world will be a better place for it, and all Steemian lives will shine better for it. The whales need to be aware of this process however simple it seems.

Whales always need to be morally aware of the decisions they take in this benevolent dictatorship, as once people get wind of what they are not aware of, these structures can fail as history has demonstrated to us in the past. One cannot just live on moral luck and expect to prosper.

None of us want that, but @ned the creator of Steemit must be morally aware of the whales decisions and try to negate their visions of right and wrong to a more democratic process. The future of Steemit will depend on it.

Steem on my friends!

Sort:

I would make a difference between morality, philosophy and governance of a bussiness.
Whales are majority investors and shareholders in the company. Normally, this group of people decides the direction of the company and not the salary of each employee.
In the case of Steemit, each shareholder - whether alone or with others and according to his own criteria - decide which user will be entitled to a reward. It is, first, a choice of structure, then the decisions of each shareholders become moral.

Each shareholder - whether alone or with others - in your example has the power to purchase. Correct. But in a ninja pre-mined system that is not the case. Many whales obtained SP at a distinct advantage. This also requires to added into the morality mix. It's a very strange moral entanglement indeed!

I expected you to weave der kategorische Imperativ into this, what with your Kantian musings 8-P.

I should have done a Kantian Matrix mashup your right! Darn!! BTW did you know that The Matrix was based on the analogy of the controlling Catholic church in Poland - I found that out in a Wachowski brothers interview.

No, that's new to me, thanks!

I just hope they don't remake The Matrix movie without the Wachowski brothers as Warner Bros. discussed this week. "Please God no!!"

Ugh. It doesn't need a remake, nor did The Day of the Jackal, The Office, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, et cetera ad infinitum.

The greed of man - and his lack of creativity eh!

WOW! An excellent FAQ-like post for new Steemians! Upvoted and commented.
I did my post quickly as I write in a #nuggetized style - no reams of verse from the @mindhunter - Steemit is a busy place ... I await your moral masterpiece with glee :))

Nice. Lets create nice atmosphere for all newcomers together!
