THREE (3) THINGS STEEMIANS NEED AFTER HARDFORK 19.0steemCreated with Sketch.

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

Hard fork, 19.0 has pulled through. Many of us are singing songs of joy , especially the minnows, dolphins, probably orcas , who have witnessed about 300% increase in their voting power rewards. I think the blog post of @intelliguy will give us greater insight into what I've just stated and my experience too as a minnow, which I've shared in my very recent blog post . Now, the red fish, with less than a million vests/500 steem power (SP) are somewhat left out of the curation reward, except for those who get to vote very early on blog posts that will get a lot of traffic and upvotes.  (Please, correct me, where I'm wrong). That too is understandable, because they have very little vests, which they need to beef up to the minimum in order to enjoy the benefits of voting reward generally.  Now, what are the three things that are needed after hard fork 19? In my opinion and from my observation , you would need

Great Army of Followers

I have observed in the steemit community and other social media platforms that the more followers you have, the greater upvotes/likes you have, even without having to promote or market your posts/content (You still need to do that, though, so that more people can see your posts). Do not go about begging for followers- follow me, I follow you. Stop it! It might not work you, Besides, you risk being flagged down by a Steemian of higher reputation, as @pollux.one rightly advised against in by @steevc in the comments section of @pollux.one  blog post.

I absolutely agree with @steevc . In that same post this was one of my comments,

''Thank you so much, @pollux.one. I'm very glad to see another post regarding this crap of follow me & I'll follow you back disease that has infected newbies. It is really very annoying. If I were to be the kind of person who flag down people, I would have flagged down very many of them by now. About 3 weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about that and even showed them constructive and creative ways to gain followership. Here, the post https://steemit.com/steemit/@maryfavour/follow-me-i-follow-you-the-new-trend-on-steemit . The more Steemians who write about it, the better. Cheers.''

My advice to newbies/red fish would be , read good blog post and comment creatively to add value to that person's life and the life of others, who would read the post. Personally, if I have nothing of value to add to a fellow Steemian's post, I just read and pass by without commenting. However, if I have a valuable comment to make, I do so by commenting constructively and creatively. It is now left to the person to decide whether or not to follow me, assuming he/she is not yet a follower. Honestly, it is not compulsory for someone to follow you, regardless of whether or not you commented constructively on his/her blog post. Another way to gain followers that has really worked for me is by being helpful and kind. That is in my person and character, anyway. So, it comes naturally.

High Reputation

I have observed over these 3 months that I've been in steemit that , the higher your reputation , the easier it will be for your posts to be seen and probably get a chance to be read and upvoted. In steemit, your reputation increases with upvotes, regardless of whether the vote is coming from a redfish or a whale (I have read though that whales generally  don't vote). Yes, the redfish has no 'vote money' to give, but his vote can increase your reputation! Please, correct me if I'm wrong. If you get a downvote from a Steemian with higher reputation, your reputation will decrease. So take care! It works the same way too in the general business world. As an entrepreneur, the more integrity you and your business have, the more successful you and your business will be. Integrity helps build a good reputation So, build a solid reputation on steemit and really everywhere you find yourself in life.

Steem Power

I mentioned in  some of my videos and posts before hf19 that you will need steem power. It is beginning to show now. I understand the economic challenges of many Steemians, especially from low income countries  and lower-middle income countries like Nigeria, where I am from. Besides, I understand the challenges of those who are not listed in these categories stated, but are experiencing very harsh economic challenges in their countries, Venezuela, for instance (food shortage crisis) and the war thorn Syria. That being said. We all still need steem power, without which steemit cannot carry out it's many projects and grow. So, if we really want steemit to grow, then we should not behave like what we call, in Nigeria, 'hit-and-run drivers', which I will now paraphrase as hit-and-run-Steemians.

My humble advice, similar to what @ehiboss has stated in his recent post,  is for the redfish to power up all their posts 100%. If you keep on cashing out every time like 'hit-and-run Steemians', then it might be difficult for you to move to the next level of becoming  a minnow.

That would be all for now.

My up vote went from 0,08 to 2,28. This is way more than 300% Something wrong?

@michiel, A big CONGRATULATIONS!!! This new era is for the minnows and dolphins. We are really enjoying now. and there is absolutely nothing wrong with your more than 300% increase. My percentage increase is more than 300% too. Enjoy the ride!

Very good post. I agree with you in almost all your points. However I would like to mention: many followers do not translate necessarily in many upvotes.

Now, after the HF, the red fish have to administrate quite well their upvotes, otherwise we end up with no voting power.

@nenio, I agree with you that many followers do not necessarily translate into many upvotes. The way it works is that only those who are really interested in your content and get to see it in their feed upvote it. However, an army of followers is necessary, so as to increase your chances of upvotes . I usually like to take 10% as the cutoff. For instance, I have 300+ followers now. Chances are there that at least 30 of my followers would upvote my content. Thanks for your comment.

Good point.

thanks a lot for sharing this, a very concise and straight forward analysis

You are most welcome, @gbenga. I'm humbled by your compliment.

Nice post. Followers will definitely be more important going forward!

Thanks, @ender! Yes, I believe that they will be important. If their votes do not translate to money, then they will translate to a higher reputation. Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your comment. Cheers.

Indeed I have noticed a big increase both in the rewards that I receive when my posts and comments are upvoted an when I upvote. I hope this will encourage Steemians to power up more. Note that currently SDBs are overvalued in the market in that 1 SDBs give you more than $1 worth of Steem so it could be better to select 50% reward, sell the SDBs in the market and power up with the purchased Steem.

Absolutely, @erlik! The voting rewards are higher now as promised. However, the voting full power votes have decreased from 40 to 10. It would probably take another 5 days for my voting power to be at 100% again. Like you've rightly stated, I really do hope that this will encourage Steemians to power up more. Regarding, SBDs being overvalued in the market, your suggestion might be smarter than powering up 100%, but that is if the Steemian will not cash out. I really do always appreciate your comments and contribution.

Good Analysis

Thanks, @cryptocharts!

Thanks for the post.

You are welcome, @capitalism! Thanks for stopping by too.

Ive notice that you resteem a lot..

Is there a financial reward for resteeming a post? or just loyalty?

@bscot020, well not a lot. However, I resteem posts that I have come across and consider impactful so that other followers of mine can get to see the blog post. Honestly, I don't know of any financial rewards attached to reblogging a post. I neither resteem a blog post out of financial reward (if any), nor out of loyalty. I only resteem a blog post, when I consider it valuable and would want to give the post greater visibility. I really appreciate your comment and questions. Thanks and STEEM ON!

Thanks for the advice.
