Fall from the top and wake up when you reach the floor. Be pursued by dark and inexplicable forces. Be disoriented, feel atrocious anguish, imagine the most gloomy scenario. The most common nightmares that have had from esoteric and prophetic meanings, to deep analyzes in psychiatry. Are they a trap of our subconscious?

Specialists warn of signals from the subconscious. But despite that, it is believed that this may be a sign of some mental disorder. However, far from the myths, Layne Dalfen, founder of "The Dream Interpretation Center", analyzed the nightmares that torment us the most.

"Dreaming is just thinking"

The specialist explains that the dream is caused by a problem that the subject faces in daily life. In this way, the strange thing that one sees when sleeping must be thought of in two ways. First, what is the problem to face? Second, how is it solved? Also, Dalfen recommends being very aware of how the dream is described, as well as the symbols that appear there and, of course, elements of real life.

tsunami

A giant wave approaches and causes destruction in its path. And it only swallows the dreamer, who can hardly move. You can escape, but in the face of a natural disaster, staying still causes immediate panic. The wave symbolizes a situation that will reevaluate an aspect of life. Moving, traveling, a big change that can turn everything around. But the important thing, clarifies the expert, is to describe if the person can not move, or does it slowly, or what it feels specifically.

Caught with no way out

Being in a space and never leaving. Being in a dream inside another dream and then inside another dream or inside a terrifying place from which you can not escape so easily. This is the way the mind tries to find a solution to a difficult problem. If the dreamer wants to find a bath, which means relief, the solution for this is to vent, concludes.

Falling into the void

It is a terrifying feeling. From great heights to deep chasms, perceiving the impending shock makes this dream quite distressing. This can imply anxiety, insecurity, loss of control or a feeling of helplessness. It may be that the dreamer goes through a depression or is in self-destructive behavior.

But this can also happen if the person is about to fall asleep.

In that case, this is a physical response to the relaxation of the body, says the specialist. These mental representations occur during the first stage of sleep, where muscle spasms occur throughout the body. This is known as a myoclonic jerk, a phenomenon that causes one to awaken when experiencing it. This, in response to the feeling of alert that the human being has before the threats that are generated around him.

We forget something important

It is something that goes out of our memory and that anguishes us for the same fact. Above all, sleep can occur on supremely stressful and important days. Worry, bad habits or an alert to be more responsible with certain activities of our life, are elements to analyze in this dream. Also, it is the feeling of concern about not reaching an incomplete goal.

That the teeth fall

Sometimes they can split. In other cases, they just fall apart. And of course, when you wake up, who has not checked the state of your mouth, to corroborate that it never happened ?. All this can evoke change, growth, transition. Like when you lose your teeth to be a child. In addition, it also symbolizes everything that comes out of the mouth through words.

Also, as frustrations also manifest themselves in dreams, in childhood and adolescence many nightmares remain: the person does not yet control their own reality.

I tend to write my dreams down as soon as I wake up...falling into a void is a very common topic for me - anxiety, helplessness...yep, that sounds like me!

Thanks for sharing! I generally love your articles, psychology is such a great topic to read about :) Can I ask, are you a specialist in the area?
