To the author of Steem’s whitepaper, thank you for the breath of fresh air!
I didn’t know whether to post this in politics, Steem, or just random, so I decided on philosophy because ideals like the Free Market and Freedom of Speech are antiquated concepts, all but lost to today’s mounting political empire of socialism.
"When people are recognized for their meaningful contributions, they continue contributing and the community grows. Any imbalance in the give and take within a community is unsustainable. Eventually the givers grow tired of supporting the takers and disengage from the community.
The challenge is creating a system capable of identifying what contributions are needed and their relative worth in a way that can scale to an unbounded number of people.
A proven system for evaluating and rewarding contributions is the free market. The free market can be viewed as a single community where everyone trades with one another and rewards are allocated by profit and loss. The market system rewards those who provide value to others and punishes those who consume more value than they produce.
Freedom of speech is the foundation of all other liberties and any infringement upon freedom of speech undermines the only peaceful means of reaching consensus: discussion. Without free discussion voters cannot be fully informed, and uninformed voters are a greater threat to society than losing the right to vote. Censorship is a means of stealing votes through limiting public discourse. Steem is committed to enabling free speech and building a free society." ~ Steem, 2016
Yeah if this works it will be amazing. I'm suddenly thinking, hey, I can actually say stuff, and if it's valuable I get something for it. That's a revolution right there, compared to how Facebook, Twitter, and everything else is just sucking life out of its own users, who sustain their life instead by a job that, in the end, typically doesn't produce anything interesting.
It's even more amazing when I consider the educational system, how long it takes me to write a master thesis, or even a PhD application - all of that energy and information is contracted into a broken system where incentives are not effectively aligned with the production of knowledge and value. The prospect of a Steem for Science is awesome to consider.
"a master thesis, or even a PhD application..."
I really believe it will make sense to post them in future DEFACTO on steemit before anywhere else !
I am glad you appreciated that portion of the text (written by me). FYI, you can edit your post to render as a block quote by changing the text to:

Indeed, it brought a highlight to my day. So, are you libertarian? What are your thoughts on the current election?
I am voluntarist and believe society can and should be organized around the non aggression principle.
I believe the election process is rigged both directly (polls, process) and indirectly (media). I believe not-voting is a superior vote.
If held at gunpoint I would pick Trump.
Why Trump? That choice seems counter-intuitive to me based on the held beliefs you described. How do you feel about Ron Paul?
