It was truly embarrassing! I didn't know how to react to the said situation it is way different when I am singing in the competition.

This time I sang not to gain an audience but rather I sang because I just want to. I am overwhelmed by the response of the folks back then, those were the happy days I guess.

After my mini-concert, I went back doing my usual stuff and on the end of my shift went home.Nothing special happened right. I thought so as well.

The next day I was surprised that I have 5 missed calls from my boss and a text message from him

Then I read the text message from my boss.

Once you are in the store, come to my office immediately

"Okay Marites, what is your mistake this time that you are summoned by your boss" that's what I told myself.

Each time that I am being called in the office of the boss, it is always about the things that I messed up hopefully I will not be getting a scolding this time.

Convenience Store

I am really curious about what did I do this time. Maybe I forgot to smile, or maybe I received a report that I am not listening to orders or maybe I left some part of the store unclean? I honestly do not know what happened but as I entered the room of my boss.

"Boss? Marites Reyes reporting for duty!" I cheerfully stated as I stood straight and waiting for the next information that he will be giving.

"Okay, Marites I have a good news and a bad news for you. Which one will you like to start first?" He said in his straight face not smiling serious tone. ( Yeah he is the boss wherein he stated that I should be cheerful and stuff but he is always in the monotonous tone as well. The Irony tsk!)

So here I am facing my boss and he is telling me that I have a good news and bad news way to go to start the day. I told myself.

"Hmm. I think it will be better if we start with the bad news because if I have the bad news then I can still recover I guess if there is a good news" I explained to him

"You know Marites, you are not an exceptional employee, right? I am also looking in your portfolio right now and saw that there are some instances wherein you are reported by the customers that you are not that nice to them"

In my mind "Okay those are still the problems that I am experiencing how can you smile and fake it if you are hurting inside right this boss doesn't care about it he just care about the profit." I didn't say it but I smiled and said: " Yes I know that sir but I am trying my best to improve on that."

"But is that your best? I don't think it is honestly!" he replied

"Sir I am doing what I can to make sure that I am worthy of the job" This time I felt something is really off it seems like he is persecuting me.

"We do appreciate that, however as you know the management is looking out for more people who are deserving for the work that we are giving and to tell you the truth you are not fit for the job"

Okay, so he dropped the bomb that I am not fit for the job what's next that he will tell then I told myself.

"Having said that you are not fit for the job. We really hate to let you go but we think that this is the best not only for you but for us. So we decided to fire you on your position and give your task to other people who are deserving of that we want to see you grow but we think that this is not your place"

I don't even know how to react to this time. Today I lost my job I was fired by my boss I told myself that this is a new place, new me and achievements. No heartbreaking moments how can I send money now to Inang (mother) and Itang( father) now that I am jobless. I began to cry because of the said incident.

My boss tried to comfort me as I began weeping he stood up and gave a brown envelope with my name on it.

"So what's this boss? My separation papers and my backpay? Wow! I never thought that you are so ready for firing me" I told him without any reservations.
