Street art, street smart lessons on the wall

in #philippines5 years ago (edited)

It was a lazy week day when you got the day off from work because the locality is having a holiday. I got a free weekday and got nothing planned in mind. In the afternoon I thought of paying the bank a visit for a quick transaction. Having nothing else in mind and wanting to kill time, I chose to go to a branch somewhere farther which requires a short travel when we have a branch nearby that is just a walking distance.

I got out of the branch and feeling a little drained for the long wait in queue, I did not want to go directly to the next branch. That is another supposedly short ride but with the heavy traffic, I need a break. Then I saw these arts to my one o'clock across the road. I have been passing by these beautiful arts almost every day during my travel to and from work but never had the chance to take a closer look, until this time! Finally, I can take a look at them closely.

The paintings are on a concrete fence of a high school along the highway in Parañaque City. In the middle of the fence is the gate which is also the main entrance. To the right side while facing the entrance are these arts. Let us have a closer look at each painting.

On the upper side of this painting are different items depicting different professions while the punk guy is blindfolded. I take that to mean the student is still confused on what profession to take. Now that sounds familiar.

Edit: I did not know how to interpret this and @tattoodjay had a very good idea. Out world needs protection! Yes, I think that is what this painting means. Thanks to tattoodjay for the idea.

Knowledge is power! What else could it be? Oh, it also brings brighter future and progressive community.

Creativity brings out bright ideas, bright ideas produce results and results improves people's well-being. Is it? 😊

To the left of the main entrance is this waiting shed with more beautiful artworks. While I was taking the photos, the security guard was saying that the students were so patient in painting these artworks even under the scorching sun.

"What? Your students painted these?" I asked.

"Yes. All of those were painted by our students."

"Amazing!" For someone like me who does not know how to paint, I mean these are really amazing for high school students to have come up with.

Let us again take a look...

We have our national hero's saying "Kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan." The youth is the hope of our nation. That sounds like what these students are doing. They are completing the puzzle of our future through their young and innovative ideas.

This painting could be the theme this month when many students are graduating or what the K-12 scheme calls as "moving up." The path to graduation is not a straight path or strolling lane. It is a stairway that you need to climb while keeping care, faith and respect in mind. Let me add determination and self-discipline.

There is one painting right after the one above. I thought I took a shot of all the paintings but I wonder where that one went. It's not in my phone.

This head is bubbling with ideas from education to engineering to more... Credits to those whose names are on the painting.

To the left of the painting above is a huge tree. Beyond the tree are these two more paintings.

Our future leaders are discussing our future. I hope they include environmental awareness and conservation.

Last but not the least, food for thought to ponder on not just for students but for constant learners! I am looking for self-discipline but S does not fit with the C's so I would let that fall on the character part.

Remember the Seven Cs of Learning!

That was a cool walk in a sunny afternoon. It restored my enthusiasm before I took another ride to my next stint for the day. It also reminded me of my school days when I am always in "row 4" when it comes to making arts like these. I had the challenge of coming up with ideas as how to depict a topic on a drawing or painting. It has become obvious that I am a consumer and not a creator when it comes to fine arts. In spite of that, colorful arts like these capture my attention. It is the vibrancy that draws me.

Kudos to those artists out there who make our world more colorful and meaningful!

Not the earth is doomed but it needs to be protected and looked after

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk !tip

That is a very good idea about the second photo. I edited my post for that. Thanks! 😊

Isn’t it cool how people can see different things in the same piece of art

Cool indeed. And it is a good learning medium too.

Indeed and its always good to learn :)

These piece are truly wonderful and colourful! Many thanks for sharing, @macoolette!

You're welcome @trincowski! Thanks too for dropping by...

Awesomeness! I love how colorful these are. We can interpret these in any way we can if we don't know what inspired the artists. Good job to the students and the school for encouraging these kids to develop their skills.

This reminds me to check out more street paintings here in La Trinidad and Baguio. Kakatamad lang kasi ulan ng ulan. Ganda ng summer talaga dito haha!

I found street arts in Baguio City. I may be posting about it soon.

I would love to see the fences of BSU with street arts. When that happens, I may be having a kilometer long walk from Km. 5 to Town. 😃

I did post about one particular artist who did street arts along military cut off. I thought of posting a followup post but never got the time.

Yes. That would be a nice idea. BSU should improve their fences/walls for better canvass.

As a teacher of young people, I was so inspired by what these young people have done when given access to creative materials and space to express themselves! The art is fantastic and the messages are clearly positive! Thank you for sharing!

I am glad to have shared such positivity. Thanks too for noticing it. 😊

Wow! Kaganda naman yang paintings ng mga students, Sana maging example ito sa mga bare and vandalised wall. Ganyan na lang, kaakit akit pa...

Sana nga lahat ng pader gawing art canvass para magandang tingnan. 😊

Howdy there macoolette! I agree, kudos to the artists! Those are rather remarkable and I love the bright colors!

The bright colors are actually what draw me to took shots of the paintings. 😊

howdy again macoolette! Yes those colors add so much to the looks of the bland street!
