Nipa huts
The Nipa hut, Kamalig or Bahay Kubo in Tagalog, is a type of stilt House indigenous to the cultures of the Philippines. It often serves as an icon of Philippine culture or, more specifically, the Filipino rural culture.
The primitive Nipa hut is normally based on the Spanish phrase Cubo, meaning cube, probably because of its rectangular appearance and Bahay is the Filipino word for house. By tradition, this type of village dwelling is constructed out of organic materials, a perfect example of a totally green structure, a showcase of extreme simplicity and sustainability that has been around for a very long time. For those who were born during 90s, they still experienced to live in a Nipa hut, but as the time pass the Nipa became a modern house. We can still see it today, but not often, Nipa huts are now built for a museum display or in a tourist spot.
