Flower "The Tower of Jewels", or "The Medicine Tower" + story about him for the Petals Contests PinkFlowerDay
The tower of jewelry is one of the names of this unusual flower. I met him on the island of Tenerife at the foot of the Teide volcano (its peak is visible in the photo on the right). Around the flower, as a rule, a whole swarm of bees and different insects collecting nectar, so this "honey tower" is really precious.
And the official name of the flower is the Synchus Wildpretii (Latin Echium wildpretii). The ecchium is a family, and Wildpret is the surname of the gardener and botanist from Switzerland.
The height of this flower is about three meters. He is two year old, blooming for the second year. Very hardy, well tolerates the lack of water, low temperatures and scorching sun. It seems that it is endemic, that is unique, grows only in this area, but with today's development of plant growing, I think it can be found in the gardens of other countries. In the Spanish manner, the flower is called tachinaste. In the Teide National Park, it is guarded even by the special environmental police - guardias forestales.
It is very interesting to look like a dried flower tahinasty, it looks like a fish skeleton, it is a pity that did not think to photograph it. The skeletons sticking out of the ground quite organically supplement the mysterious volcanic landscape.
