An Atypical Beginning to my Day

There was something unsettling about her eyes and yet I could not turn avert my gaze as they remained transfixed upon me.

It wasn't the icy pale blue irides that only subtly but surely themselves apart from the surrounding whites. Nor was it the clearly uneven aperture of the pupils within each iris.

No. It was the intensity with which she stared me down.

She was the predator and I was the prey.

"I'll be spending some time on the inside - and you are coming with me."

"Why is that?" The words came out fluidly - without thought.

Her head tilted slightly to one side.

"Because I cut a deal." Her matter-of-fact intonations added to her unsettling nature.

"Oh? And how much time are you getting off for each person you drag down with you?"

"Three years." Her eyes dominate my consciousness, and her words echo.

"Three years?" ...

The room is imbued with a dim light.

One blink. Three blinks.

My hand reaches for my phone.

...

Whoops! I missed my transport to get to work.

A quick message of apology later I contemplate my 'game plan' for the morning.

Source

Its just past seven in the morning.

I could take a proper breakfast but then I'd get to work at least a half-hour later than hoped. If I get in at eight then I'll be able leave at five (thank goodness for the 'flexible hours' work policy)

If I get out at five I'll be able to drive up to the North to get to my six-o-clock beginners class in Tai Chi on time.

Absent-mindedly I open up the Kraken.

Logging in, I like what I see - and I see that Bitcoin Cash is at $1545

A look at the chart shows that it peaked more than an hour earlier - but that was more than enough to keep me happy.

And so I looked up my precise amount of holdings and decided to halve it. 0.23373 Bitcoin Cash.

Verify... and order.

And order...

And... order?!

Source

There is a special kind of frustration that occurs when you try to use an exchange and as the floor falls out beneath you (and the price you are aiming for) the exchange simply 'doesn't' want to accept one's order.

What do you mean "may have failed"?! I don't have time for this!

Over and over and over again I tried - each time having to re-insert the precise amount of currency that I wanted exchanging.

Over and over and over again Kraken would thwart my efforts.

Source

And the price just kept dropping. Out of desperation I dropped my price to $1515 and continued.

No luck.

I get distracted by a phone call.

"What? The internet is a little slow? I'll look into it!"

Several calls later I look at the chart. The price had rebounded way past my price but I'd 'not' been able to get my order in. And now its dropping. Fast.

Source

A frantic resumption of serial sell attempts later (where I once almost filed a 'buy' order) and I finally am blessed with a successful order.

That was an ordeal! And the price is rebounding again. Fine. Let me take a chance and post the other half of my Bitcoin Cash reserves at $1555. I'd grown tired of that coin disappointing me anyway... and to think that I opted for it 'instead' of Bitcoin!

Hmm... oh and now Kraken is down again.

At least I am recording my morning's ordeal on Steemit.

I kind of doubt that anybody would be interested in my dreams and struggles and triumphs... I'm hardly a Kardashian.

"Oh... Good morning!"

"Hey James. We're collecting money for Mariella who is raising awareness about children with hypertension. We're doing fivers. Are you in?"

"Sure! Just a sec." Hands it in exchange for colleague's tenner, passing that on to the collector.

Huh... I guess I was wrong when I claimed that I didn't have a charitable bone in my body. I guess I just don't like being conned out of my earnings.

A glance at the clock tells me that it is Midday. I think I'll spend the next few hours making this article read-worthy, while keeping an eye on Kraken (when I can).

I've been there. I now try to set buys and sells by looking at the chart. If you haven't seen them yet, check out @haejin's guides on laddering. That way I just buy and sell when I sleep, and make the decisions while I'm awake. I have tried most of them, and most happily use bittrex now.

Kind of a stream of conciousness type post, but with your great image finding makes it fun!

Thanks for posting again ;p

Thank you, both for your up-vote and your comment @ecoinstant. ^_^

I will definitely do so. I consider myself an absoute beginner in the ways of crypto and so any insights are valuable. Thank you for the pointers. :c)

Glad you found the images worth a look. Yes I learnt a long time ago that my writing alone could use the added dimension that an image or three can bring. ^_^

Thanks again!

I am still confused on what that girl in the beginning was. A dream, a metaphor or was it both?

Sorry to hear about your BCH 'crisis'. I am just hodling it because I think maybe there is more to it than a gone-crazy Roger. Looking at the dropping price since its rally ( a few months ago) I lost a few hundred bucks as well for not selling it into good ol' legacy BTC.

I hope for the both of us that there will be another BCH rally soon and I hope you made that Tai-Chi Class despite coming in late. Looking at your work hours, are you actually forced to take the 1 hour break? In Germany we ussually only break for 20-30 minutes and just cut of the time from our total work, so we make like 8,5 hours total per day (including lunch break)

I deliberately didn't say. It was the dream segment that woke me up. :cP

There is that fine period between wakefulness and sleep where both Worlds become one. And so I found myself contemplating the meaning of the fragment of dream that I could recall. ^_^ I'll be heading to sleep and I'm looking forward to my next dream as even the weird ones are cool! :cP

I have not lost money as much as I have lost 'potential' gains thus-far. There comes a point where you wonder whether to hodl or play a gamble on that curve approaching a precipice. I am by no means competent in the matter. Just competent enough to observe whale interference, edging prices up or down.

As for BCH and BTC - I recently posted my thoughts on Bitcoin and how I feel things are going to go down in the crypto World. On the basis of such getting in on either shouldn't be a bad call - but I feel more comfy with alternatives like Etherium, Litecoin or even Ripple. /:c)

I made it in time for class. It went well enough in spite of a minor foot injury sustained while driving (I put it down to strain and repetitive use in traffic).

As for my hours - nah. We are afforded a 25 minute break and its mandatory. :cP Then again we do have shorter hours during the Summer - so it kind of evens out.

Thank you, both for your up-vote and your comment @thatgermandude. :c)

I don't really trade and just hodl the projects that I like. I luckily bought a litecoin at 60$ just before it rallied. A lot of other of my "investments" have been a little meh though. I bought 5 Neo at 10$ and could have sold after a month with 5x profit but i decided to hold 4 of them and only sell 1 to cover my initial $ cost. All of this is crying on a high level though ;). (Jammern auf hohem Niveau)

I should have worded it other I actually understood very well, that you just wanted to share the morning experience that we all know: the point were you remember your dream and even feel like part of it is still real. I like that element and you are right to have not explained it. I liked it as a part and sort of a stylisitic contrast to the main topic.

HODLing is something that I feel that I should do more. :cP I am not particularly good at trading and it is, as they put it, 'a bull market' (so its like being on training wheels).

I've made mistakes. We all do. Some more than others. Those who make less are called lucky or pros. :cP

And thanks. I thought it would be an interesting way to begin. I kind of just rolled with it. :c)
