Creative Writing Challenge Task # Four called The Hero

The Story

The students had all graduated from university and were setting up the surprise party for Hristo. He was celebrating fifty-plus years in service. They were attempting to find a fancier name than Entrepreneur in the field of Recycling, but were running out of ideas and time.

The Venue

The idea of relocating came up a few times. Ledenik Village is near Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria and is known for its land. With the right tools they could create a lovely venue out of any patch of land. Will they step up to the plate? Will the party fall through?
Fast forward a few months, and what do you know, they actually pull it off!

The Moment

Each student steps up to the stage and shares a memory or a kind word, and many tears of gratitude are shared. Hristo sits at his table of honor, listening to the stories, heart filled with pride for each student that had made it. Each speaker he remembers, each story he remembers. Each long term effect he could only hope for.

How could he know that they would come back, give, and help continue the project?

The Family

Time is priceless. It is freely given, each member adding where he can. Together they stand, together they build, together they celebrate the lives they touched. Time is priceless because it is freely given. Every child witnesses his father in action and attempts to mimic his actions. The siblings collectively find their talents while building a lasting legacy.

When the speeches end, Hristo gathers his strength and walks to the stage.

He attempts a thank you and the room gathers in a room hug.
The end.

Task #4: The Hero

Write a #payitforward post based on the facts about a man called Hristo. Write it as a fiction story based on what you have read.

Background:

Born in a family of two orphans, he was told hundreds of stories he grew up with. When the first orphan came to him looking for a job at the beginning of the 90s, and when the kid shared with him that he had nowhere to go, Hristo didn't need to think a lot and accepted him as a new member of his family.

For the past twenty-five years, Hristo has taken care of dozens of people, probably more than fifty. They found not only a shelter, but also they met someone willing to teach them the main principles in life, like a real father. Hristo was recognized as a man of the year in Bulgaria for 2007 - an award that meant nothing to him.

Here are some facts to help you write your story:

Look at you stopping by again!

I like the angle of a banquet honoring Hristo by all the people whose lives he affected in a positive way. This challenge was particularly difficult, I think, just because you are talking about a real live person and you want to honor their good deeds.

This was a hard one and the next challenge even more so! However, i like where it went. How do you feel about your story?

Not entirely happy with it. I was trying to capture the moment he first decided to take in an orphan, but it seemed to be lacking something - perhaps not enough character development. I think I was afraid to "create" a character because it's a real person and I didn't want to insult by guessing wrong.

That was my greatest fear. I didn't want to say or do anything that might be misinterpreted. Hopefully he enjoys our entry!
