Entry for the Pay It Forward Curation Contest

in #payitforward6 years ago (edited)

I was working on an article for a personal blog when my husband said: "Hey, you know, there are some platforms that you can publish on and be paid for". I was intrigued. It wasn't about the money (I haven't got any yet), but for the idea of someone appreciating your work and the interaction that follows. And I have always liked writing.

So I considered a few different platforms and watched some YouTube videos about them. Finally, I chose Steemit because all the people I watched on YouTube talked about the amazing Steemit community.

Unfortunately, my first experience with Steemit was a bit of disappointment. I worked very hard on my first post. But at the end, no one read it. Despite that, I was motivated even more. So I worked very hard on my next post. However, the result was no different. My reputation was 25 and I was feeling like a person wearing a sign saying "Loser" on her face. Who would read my post with this reputation?

Then I decided to do what I like - dig out some quality posts and read them. Finally, I stumbled upon some good blogs and started reading their old posts. I commented some of the articles despite they were old, and got a reply from the wonderful @abigail-dantes and the amazing @egotheist. And then "the community" "happened" to me. Not only @abigail-dantes read my latest article (ignoring my poor reputation) but she resteemed it. It was sooo nice of her. A day later the SteemSTEM community resteemed my post and I had many people commenting it. It felt so gooood to have this interaction! Now I was realizing how powerful and inspiring the Steemit society was. Perhaps, I would have quited already if it wasn't for these people's help.

Recently, another great community supported me - the Pay-It-Forward-Curation-Contest. It feels great when someone appreciates your efforts and gives you a hand.

I would like to be that person.

That's why this is my first entry for PIFC. Its goal is to find and encourage under-valued contributors of great content to our Steem blockchain.

It took me a while to find some good posts. I guess i will get better at this. Here is my choice for this week. I hope you enjoy it and support the authors by voting and commenting! :D

My first choice is a post about a bonsai tree. The author is @imagendevoz. I was impressed by the effort he put into describing how to grow your own bonsai and how dedicated he is into this hobby :D I wanted to find a post beyond my personal and ordinary interests, so here it is :D

#BonsaiNews: Pinus pinaster (maritime pine) make for surprisingly beautiful bonsai

My second choice is a post by @bbblackwell. I like the reflection @bbblackwell makes and the new perspective he/she shows of "the Others as Self". Here is a quote I liked and found inspiring:

We cannot choose the actions of others, but we can be the change we’d like to see, and move the world one step closer to that ideal. Keep this idea in mind as you go forward throughout your day, and see if you can find opportunities to employ this understanding. They may not all seem to deserve it, but do it anyway. There is no loss if you find satisfaction in the giving itself. Little by little, they’ll come around; and even if we cannot see the full extent of this cultural change in our lifetime, we can do our part, and have a more pleasant journey along the way.

If you like the idea and would like to join, check up the Pay-It-Forward-Curation-Contest movement.

Thanks for reading! I will apreciate it if you support these authors' efforts!

Cheers!

Thanks for your entry and have upvoted both of your featured bloggers. I added you to the list of entries, but jump over to the post and leave a comment with the link to your post. I upvote this and this will get you part of the bounty, plus more important it's how I know you entered the contest on a normal basis. If it wasn't for @roleerob I would have missed your entry.

Oh, thanks! And thank you, @roleerob! I knew I was missing something ;) I will try to do it right next time :)

and the amazing @egotheist

Oh no, now I have to live up to another high standard people place me at ._.

What you gonna do, people always have expectations :D

Wow, it is nice to see someone finding my content useful and worthy enough to write about it again in the PIFCC. I actually use to write for this contest not that long ago and feel guilty for forgetting about it. I'll get back on-board soon though. To @insight-out, thank you for taking the time to have a look at my blog.

It is a pleasure! :D I am keen on growing my own bonsai some day :D

Well, if you ever find out which kind of tree you want to grow, feel free to let me know and I'll offer whatever advice I can.

Hello @insight-out😉 I like your featured bloggers post but I almost missed them out Of I didn't set my feed for #payitforward 😊 I thought you were running out of the RC so you haven't submit your link on the comment pifc post😉 welcome to pifc and hope that you'll enjoy your steemit journey with us.

Thank you for your warm welcome, @cicisaja! :D I hope I will manage to find some more interesting posts next week! ;)

See you!

Dropping by and supporting your post @insight-out. Unfortunately, I have very limited time at the moment, so upvoted them, before the pay-out expired.

Hope to be able to come back later and comment on their work.

Thanks again for your effort to produce your first PIFC Community post!

It is very good to you getting support form @abigail-dantes. I supported both of your bloggers. I like to create a bonsai tree but I don't know how to do it before.

Thank you, @mmunited! I didn't know it either, but perhaps I would do it some day :)

Good evening @insight-out! Just before calling it a day, stopping by and checking into some people who I am ... uhh ... kind of watching over a little bit ... 😉 Glad I did!

First, very encouraging to see you creating a post for the PIFC Community contest. Great job! 👍

The only issue is making sure you get the recognition drawn to your posts you would like, for your effort. What we do is reply to the weekly contest post of @pifc / @thedarkhorse and then he updates that post with all the contestants for the week.

Once on that list, the judges know who to visit, the sponsors know who to support, the communities curators know who to go check out, etc.

Please go to the Week 26 post and you'll see in the replies down below that post what I mean.

Great timing as this is the ½-year mark for this community, with some special features! They have been "paying it forward" for a long time ... You'll want to get your post here listed over there before tomorrow night.

Hope to see your post here on "the list" there soon! 👋

P.S. Please @thedarkhorse, if you see this message before @insight-out is able to respond to this, I would appreciate it if you would ensure her entry here gets on our list. Thanks!

Thanks a lot, @roleerob! I knew there was something more I should have done but my little one didn't give me a chance to check a bit further :/

@thedarkhorse has already put me on the list, thanks to your comment!

Happy to do it for you @insight-out. I'm sure you would have done the same for me, had our roles been reversed.

"...but my little one didn't give me a chance ..."

Yep! Very familiar with this challenge. And, of course, they are far more important than anything going on "in here" ... 😉

Thanks again for joining "the cause" and contributing your first post to our (your) @pifc community!

Thank you so much for a fantastic entry @insight-out! Your attitude is exactly what we're all about at @pifc ... paying it forward and helping others out :) I loved your two choices and have shown them both a little upvoting and commenting love :) Great job!

Thank you very much for your warm welcome, @lynncoyle1 ! :)

You are most welcome @insight-out, and thank you again :)

Good entry! Thanks for sharing these bloggers.
I have supported both of your features.

Thanks a lot!

Great story about your Steemit journey - I think we've all been there. I've been so grateful to have found meaningful interactions here, and I'm sincerely touched by your finding some value in my work. It's a shame the medium keeps us at arms length, but it's a blessing that we're able to connect in this way. Way t' be, thank you, and continue on because your voice matters a great deal.

Yeah, I hear you :)
