All the little things: Steem attracts Steem
Yesterday I was reading a post by @celestal with some numbers about his monthly Steem earnings and pushing on toward dolphinhood in the future.
What is interesting about Steem during these waves is that the ups and downs have a solidifying affect on people and often, those with Steem pull together while those without drift apart. It doesn't take much Steem to notice this, just some.
When it comes to earning Steem we have all heard that now is a good time to earn and for those with the capital, they might buy in too. There are different types of people here but like anywhere, like attracts like which is part of the reason for clusters and groups to form. Steem holders is such a group it seems and while some might think this is whale territory, it happens at all levels.
It is no surprise that members of an engagement league are commenting on each other and powering up for example, as it is like those crossfit groups that drive each one another to push their bodies. Being in a group that exhibits and drives for a common goal will see members conform to some degree.
I am not a big fan of conformity itself but if it helps me to do something I struggle with alone, I don't mind so much. Exercise, diet, investing come to mind. When it comes to working on Steem, I have little issue with dedication but, put a chocolate cake in front of me and there is very little will power. =)
What does tend to happen on Steem I find is that consistency generally gets discovered sooner or later and it is more than just content related. Consistency in acting toward the future will be noticed and the thing is, those Steem power numbers keep ticking away over time. When found, there is a track record and potentially a surprising amount of Steem to back it up.
There are many more ways to earn some Steem these days than when I started, find them, use them, build a base. And, it is possible to have a little fun with it too.
Now, I had more thoughts to add here but my client is running early so I have to go. I think 2019 is going to have a few cut short posts :)

Nice post and very true. I find that I’m earning a lot more Steem even though I’m not managing quite as many posts and have been just commenting because I don’t have a lot of time for detailed posts.

Many are finding that they are increasing their Steem earnings a fair bit at the moment as there are less competing and more visibility for those that stay. it is the same for comments as many don't comment because it 'just isn't worth it' while those that do will be appreciative at the net climb. Delayed gratification.
I'm beginning to call this period the redistribution period. I was getting concerned for a bit when I saw some whales powering down all there Steem and leaving the platform. Then I see what projects they are headed to and realize they'll be back.
For me it's a period to accumulate as much Steem as possible so that when the next bull market hit I can be the envy of the minnows with the Steem and Steem Power I've managed to accumulate and have new respect for those that first joined the platform when Steem was just a few cents and decided to buy and power up a lot of Steem.
Those that are collecting even small amounts now are going to be the envy of everyone one day.

While not particularly active at present by my usual standards, the 15k SP held leaves me in an alright position. People like votes :)
In a few months when Steem is 10 dollars it is going to be a bit of fun to see people using their votes :)

It's going to get very weird when the next bull run hits and dolphins become the new whales and whales are looked at like god-like deities. Hopefully we can flatten the top of the pyramid a bit.
The different ways to earn Steem will continue to grow and become exponentially more interesting/engaging.
I think with each bull run and dip the pyramid will flatten as the whales sell what they got cheap and the small accounts buy in at the dip in the expectation of the next run.
I am looking forward to what people come up with.
Consistency is key and those that do so now will have the benefits of community support when things improve which will mean that growth will follow those with content now... I imagine that it will not always be that way so it is best tontake advantage of the opportunity now to create the relationships and learn for when the tide turns.

It does happen and it's great to be a part of a little xlique.
However it's shit to see when you're on the outside and could well be the simple reason why steem will never take off!
And it's something no one's really talking about either. Kind of an elephant in the barriers to steem mooning room!

It has been talked about and there are ways for those on the outside to get in, but it does take proactivity. Most rely on being found here. I know I did for a very long time and everything seemed a bit unfair from that side of the fence. I should have used the gate earlier ;)

Do you get the feeling 2019 is going to be a good one?
It really highlights the importance of connecting with people of a common interest here, then during the bear runs, you don't really notice because you still enjoy the interaction.
yep, it is like any social group of friends that can have fun no matter where they are together.
The people who did not build a base before find it lonely now during the low turn.
This is the danger of being disconnected in the real world too. Social isolation doesn't make for happy people.
