Another cool fact that Wikipedia tells me is that an individual lotus can live on for more than a thousand years! And they have a rare ability to be revived into activity after prolonged period of stasis. What an awesome ability.
Lotus is also the official national floral symbols for India and Vietnam :).
Drawing process, step by step
I’m not sure if I have written this previously, but I have a LOT of fun drawing this series because I get to practice drawing people from different ethnicities. It’s amazing that various cultures bring their own unique kind of beauty and splendour.
Character in Colour
I have to be careful with her skin, because I still find it hard to control how colours behave in watercolour. I don’t want her to have uneven skin tone ^^.
Usually I would sketch the background first, but I guess I was very focused on finishing the character. So here I drew the flowers and their leaves. I find the leaves to be an equally important symbolism to my definition of lotus, unlike other flowers.
Lotus in Colour
Hehehe I didn’t struggle much here because I only need to colour the flowers sparingly.
Finished Art - Lady Lotus
Alas my happiness was short lived, since the leaves were challenging to colour. I want to capture their wrinkles and their shapes and how they shimmer under sun and water. Anyway, it is finished, here is Lady Lotus ˚\(*❛‿❛)/˚.

My flower watercolour series
I love how watercolour art looks like but I don’t have any real media materials with me. I will buy the stock one day, but for now, I am happy to experiment creating them digitally with watercolour brushes in Corel Painter. Since I am learning the tools, I will be making a series of watercolour art, I hope you will enjoy watching my experiments ^_^.
