When is a painting really done?

This always is a difficult question for me. Sometimes it is external constraints, sometimes it is the painting itself saying so. Sometimes the painting itself only says so after a period of rest, undetermined in length.

I photographed this painting today, thinking it was "nearly there."

The act of photographing in this case resulted in adding more to the finished feeling. I don't think I will paint on this painting anymore.

This was a learning experience for me. I'm trying to let the colors describe the light qualities more. I feel like I used to foreground value, but now I am incorporating more hue.
