ORPHAN

She was sitted at the entrance of a mud house, starring at other girls that passes bye as they were going to school.
It has always been her wish to be educated, but due to the death of her father,she quitted education.
Her father died when she was 5years of age.she was in basic 2 then, her father loved her so much cos she is the only child of the Ugale family.
Her father was a farmer and was well-known in the community.
After the death of her father,his family members came to request for the properties since her mother did not give birth to a male child.
Things have been so hard for them, they hardly eat twice in a day,no body to help them.Her mother
pulled herself together and engaged in fishing,she will wake up as early as possible and rush down to her place of work.
Adaobi will be the only one at home because her mother believe that she is too young to be a Fisher. Adaobi always love to follow her mother to the beach, but she will not take her along.
On a Monday morning as usual, her mother has gone to the beach and she was sitting outside starring at the young girls passing bye, she always love to be like them and she always cry when ever she sees them.
She did not have any friend,because other children are going to school.Adaobi felt isolated and she want to mingle with other children.Unfortunately for her, the girls will not even respond to her greetings.
She is always bothered the way the young girls aren't responding to her greetings. One day she asked her mother "Mother, I use to see other girls that are passing, and I know they are heading to school. I know that you don't have money to send me to school, but I want to be friends with other girls".Immediately, her mother cutted in and said "My beautiful daughter, thanks for understanding our condition, but the truth is that u can't be friends with them, their parents already told them bad things about us, don't u know your father died in a mysterious way?!?"
Adaobi busted into tears, she tried to console her mother but theywere both weeping. Adaobi blamed herself for discussing it with her mother.
The following day, when her mother was set for work she knelt down and said "Mother, I'm now 11years of age,i wish to follow you to the beach, I want to know about fishing, I want to start helping you, since I can't acquire education ".Her mother was so pleased about her decision,she agreed and they both went to the beach.
She was hard working and other people loved her at the beach,even though some use to envy her.
That year, her mother fell sick and it was a serious sickness,no money to take her to the hospital, later a native doctor came to her rescue. Behold,it was beyond the native doctor's imagination.It was cancer(skin cancer)
Adaobi tried her best to rescue her mother, but all in vain.
It was on a Tuesday morning, Adaobi woke up and discovered that her mother is still sleeping, it's not found of her, she rushed to her mother's room and discovered that she is dead.She screamed, she was shouting but nobody came to her rescue.
She rushed to her neighbor's house to inform them.On getting there,she explained to her neighbor, to her greatest surprise, the woman said"You don't have to tell me what is going on, we all know your family that sorrow is your watchword don't implicate me. Leave my house, go and throw her corpse away".
Adaobi felt sorry for herself, nobody to call, she is still young. Later, she remember that she suppose to call the people at the beach to come over,she informed them and they promised to help her out in buring her mother.
Today is the seventh day of her mother's death, they already planned to bury her this Day,but another thing came up. Her father's family came to the house and instructed them not to bury her in the house because the house belongs to their son. Adaobi pleaded,but they wouldn't listen, they called her a bastard,they said she should take her mother's corpse to her mother's land, but unfortunately, she did not know her mother's town.
The people at the beach decided to help her, they promised to bury her mother by the side of the river. Although, she did not really like the idea, but she have to comply since she have no option left. Within three days, her mother was buried and she continues with her work,fishing.
Life was so inconvenient and miserable for her, when her father's family came to chase her out of the house, they called her names, they said she is a bastard and do not deserve to live in their son's house. She packed her things and started living under a canopy of leaves by the river side.

Her new life over there was a hell, she was often biten by snakes but those people will prepare herbs to suppress the pain. Every night, she will go to where her mother was buried and weep till day break. Nobody was there to stop her from crying .
As time passes out, she is already forgetting the pains and she was very hardworking, the people at the river side loves her so much. Sometimes, they bring food for her to eat.
Years later, the orphan became a senior Fisher and she started earning a lot from fishing. People from nearby villages will always come to buy from her.Other people at the beach began to envy her, they hated her so much becauseof her success.
Later, they called her and said"You can no longer be living at the beach, because you already place plagues on other people's nest when they are gone. And that is why you are always killing the best set of fishes".
She was shocked, she didn't expect that from them, she thought they were always happy because of her success. She pleaded "my people, u know I have nowhere to go, please give me some months, I will sort myself ".One of the women said "shut up!!! You should have somewhere to go, I thought you are now rich,when did you join us?!? We helped you in burying the witch you called your mother.You must go, we don't want you here".
She continue pleading but all in vain, she have only one option. She have to go.
She thought of leaving the village, but where will she go to?!?

At last, she decided to travel to a nearby city and esterblish herself with the money she saved.
On getting there, she started working as a sales girl, she continued with her life and was loved by every one. She always wanted to see a river so that she can continue fishing, she asked some of those people that have been there for a long period of time,but their answers isn't encouraging.They told her that the only river that have fishes in it is very dangerous, and crocodile is inside the river.
When she got home that day she said to herself "I can hunt for fish in that crocodile river.Afterall the one in my village also has crocodile inside".She made up her mind and decided to start fishing the following day.
Things was not as easy as she thought, although she has the skills of fishing, but to avoid the crocodile, she couldn't move extremely deep into the river.
As time passes by, she became more bold and she was hunting as much as possible. People in the city were impressed because they use to travelling to nearby villages to buy fishes.
The rumour was everywhere, that a young orphan could hunt for fish in the crocodile river.
A wealthy young man invited her to his house and offered her a scholarship to travel abroad and study more about fishing. She was glad, but sad at the other side of her, she said"i dropped out in basic 2 sir, I cannot cope in the US".The man smiles and assure her that she will cope because the will start from primary level with her.
Eight months later,she was fully prepared to travel abroad.
The poor orphan travelled abroad and became a successful Fisher...
As an orphan, she was depressed cos he parent couldn't witness her success.
