Origami fireworks
I saw a cool post by @holgerwerner where he displayed this model, it's really fun to make and a motion model. after finishing I realized it didn't look the same.
I used this tutorial after learning how to make one unit I skipped to the next part and assumed that was it. I tried to change it to look like the other one and ended up doing the part I skipped in the video without realizing. Literally checked out the video before making this post.
I did have one issue, the model gets tighter after doing the reinforcing folds so I kept adding more units and ended up with a comfortable number of 18 instead of predicted 12. If you ask me this looks even better and is very stable.
Anyways, here's the steps to making the model:
I actually think I did this step a bit different from the original which is why it requires more units to close the model.
Both sides done
Finished firework
I had a lot of fun folding these and the finishing product "toy" is really fun to play with, nice pointy tactile edges feel great. Try making it yourself, it's really fun :)
Hope you enjoyed this post, still working on the new one, My first papercraft model ended up being the most complex model I've ever made
That's a lovely looking shape @ivan-g... How big is it?
I remember trying
very hardto make a shape like that (not the same though) from an origami jewellery bookand completely failing. I somehow managed to miscount the shapes I needed... I will try to find it later. This inspires me to give it another go.The model isn't very big, planning on making one half the size, this is probably around 12cm(I think) really interested about what you were making, try this one though, this is the youtube link
I definitely will because I like the fact that it's 'interactive', @ivan-g.

Here's the one I meant and as you can see it's not the same... but it reminded me of my 'failed' attempt and 'spare' bits I had left ... :
I will remake it though 😂 :

oh, that's 3d origami, give me 30 min and I'll make it xD
ps. that's 64 units
The one that I attempted is also really spiky and in fact I did wonder whether or not it was 'safe' to wear as a brooch @ivan-g...
So I probably didn't use all the pieces ? there were different sizes from what I recalled and it was my first 3D origami piece 😌
I'm going for a snooze and I will check your model tomorrow... I will also attempt the youtube vid tutorial. Many thanks again !
It's safe, if you're planning on using it as a brooch I'd suggest dividing A4 into 1/64. Took a bit more than 30min. Also definitely use glue, not very stable.
That's awesome @ivan-g !!! Thank you so much and Wow... I must have another go. So I need to glue the bits as I go along... thanks for that tip too.
So you make ring of 16+16 in opposite directions and the next 2 layers of 16 each are in the same direction. Just a little glue on the tips to hold the thing together, especially if you plan on using it. And dont worry about the upvote :)
Your origami work is so neat and tidy @ivan-g! I like the pink :)
Thank you ^-^
