Open Mic Week 8 - Original Ukulele Song - NightwalkingsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #openmic8 years ago

This one is really old but I never recorded it. I made it when I played ukulele just for few weeks. And I don't even remember how I played it, what chords I had, how was it supposed to be sang. .. All I had was lyrics. So I kind of re-created it but I still kept it very simple with the basic structure.

It's a song about going for a walk during the night to be alone and deal with your emotions. It was inspired by a friendship I had at that time in which we used to go for a nightwalk quite often to have some nice conversations.

Lyrics

Like a wind in the middle of the night;
I am breezing through this cold dark night
The city now is shinning with its calming flow;
The night is young, don't worry, let it go

Chorus:
The city's dark,full of unknown
All you want - is to walk alone;
Think about life, and what you've done;
All the thoughts - are making you run;

The sound of nothing is overtaking your ears;
no one's around so you burst into tears;
the stone is falling down from your heart;
the pain is going away part after part;

Chorus

The sky is dark, but you can see the light;
the limitlessness is filling you with fright;
all the worries that you had feel so small;
The cup is filled half-way through and now you stand tall;

Chorus:

I encourage you to take part in OpenMic, for me it helps a lot with being less shy about my creation, even though I can't sing :D.

I think what you said at the end of your post is great. I'm glad open mic is helping you to fight your shyness and become more comfortable with sharing your creativity. You will only get better with time in regards to ukelele and singing. It took me many years to get where I am today in my field of music as well. Please keep playing and singing, thanks for entering and best of luck to your entry. Upvoted

Thank you for encouraging words :). I really appreciate it and thank you for noticing that part. Every time before hitting record I feel nervous and I have to record few times before I don't make some silly mistakes, or at least not huge enough that it prevents me from posting it all together.

I know I have a long way to go in terms of singing (Or at least singing and playing at the same time). And there's always room at improving on Ukulele, too.

Again, thank you :).

You're very welcome, I too do many many retakes sometimes. Mistakes are just minor setbacks that force us to grow our control and muscle memory when performing. The journey of growth can be tedious at times but so worth it in the long run with determination and consistency. I can barely play piano and sing at the same time too, we always have room to improve towards greatness.

Indeed :).
I'll keep an eye on your progress here on Steemit so we can keep each other accountable :).

Thank you for the extra set of eyes and ears. Looking forward to our individual growth
