Steemit Open Mic week 78: O’Carolan’s Draught

in #openmic6 years ago (edited)

Turlough O’Carolan was a blind Irish harpist and composer from the early 1700s, who traveled the length and breadth of the Emerald Isle writing songs as he went. His music is the bridge between the older folk melodies, and the Baroque classical music popular in Europe at the time.

(Performed on my Susato Irish tinwhistle)

Enjoy. 🙃

How beautiful you play! We recently were at an exhibition of Indian goods. And they sold bamboo flutes of various sizes. The sound they have is very deep and low.

I ran across a maker of Irish whistles and flutes who used bamboo. The sound of bamboo is incredible! It resonates so differently from the modern polymers and hardwoods. 💕

I also play a little harmonica. Long time ago we had a large good company of friends, we went to visit each other, as well as many days of hiking. There we played guitar and sang different songs. Now all they gone and there's no more a kind times.
