Steemit Open Mic Week 56 - Tom Waits Cover - Old ShoessteemCreated with Sketch.

I'm sure many of you have noticed that life is not easy. No matter how lucky you are in life, we all face our own mortality. We only have one life, one chance to make every decision, big or small. The big ones can break you. When you're one of the lucky ones, you sail through calm seas most of the time, but sometimes, no one, and I emphasize no one, can escape the storm, and it's the hardest thing in the world not to sink. There's not much significant anyone can say to that, no one understands it, no one can change it, the best I could come up with is just to say survive, it's in your nature.

Drama queen alert ;-)

Anyway, here's a Tom Waits song. Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoy it.

Tom Waits is classic. One of my favorite lines of his is:

"And I'm standing on the corner of Fifth and Vermouth...using parking meters as walking sticks."

You sounded really good. Thanks.

no songwriter could sum up an emotion in one or two lines like Tom Waits. A true poet if there ever was one. Thanks,

Long time no read. No drama queen here, just reality. Hope things are ok.

sure, thanks. I'll have to catch up on your posts, just haven't been around lately.

Glad you’re back, Crypt… good entry and performance, brother!

Yes, life is one big drama of which we ourselves are the inherent directors and producers.

By no means do we have full executive control of the entropic and cyclical journey of life, we do however, – (if we’re lucky, wise enough, and blessed enough) have some semblance of autonomy with regard to whom we cast to act with us, and within which scenes we wish to participate, fashion, and write our respective scripts.

One can only hope that in the end, each of our epilogues will reveal an abundance of enduring strength, love, wisdom, and compassion that will transcend this space and time that we call life, which is but a moment in the sight of the Sun.

Always good to see a comment from you pg, and wise words. Thanks,

I do my best - I have my moments, both good and bad... glad you got the better side... much love...

I never knew this song before, how did i miss it. You sing it well.
