Oktoberfest Day 8 - security advice for the ladies - the Italians are here!

Ladies and gentlemen of Steemit, we have almost at half time of this year's Oktoberfest. Today I spent the day with my girls and No Beer Yet lol - we visited the Wiesn to check some entertainment for younger people mainly on Oide Wiesn - it is different compared to the usual Oktoberfest adult day in a beer tent, walking is probably better for your body as drinking tons of Beer.

But coming to the topic of this post. Beer and Fun and Girls is always a huge part of the Festival. This weekend the traditional Italien weekend is taking place with a lot young handsome boys from our favourite country in Europe are joining the party. Germans love Italians not only for food - and it seemsItalians boys like German girls. How many prejudices here I know!

However - on a serious note - especially the ladies should be careful visiting the event, as on every other huge folk festival also sexual harassment and assault is happening. There is an initiative in Munich since 2003 called “Sichere Wiesn für Mädchen und Frauen (Safe Oktoberfest for Girls and Women) that stands up for an enjoyable and carefree visit for every girl and woman at the Oktoberfest.

My wife is supporting that initiative

AS some may know I have ladies at home that are not only driving my days crazy but one is also very active to support initiatives across the city. One campaign she is also supporting in her free time this initiative as many others. The topic is a serious one as a lot is happening on an event where the beer halls open already 9am in the mornings and million son hungry men are hunting on the area - and some can not behave, the influence of too much alcohol is increasing the danger for girls.

Read some Do's and Don'ts

  • Considering an event with 600,000 visitors per day it is easy to get lost. Therefore always agree with your friends / family on a meeting point before the visit

  • Carry your money, phones, key and other important things on yourself - do not put that into Backpacks or handbags

  • When leaving a tent (even you plan to return) take all belongings with you. Sometimes the tent is overcrowded and you might not be able to return.

  • Eat something and also consume non-alcoholic drinks in between

  • Avoid drink spiking: becoming incapable of action is no fun and it happens every day

  • Never walk home alone - assault can also happen on your way back

Fuck, voted at 5th minute, 66% of the vote burned. 🤦‍♂️

:P it'll take some time to get used to this

Yes - and if I would like your comment I normally would have voted this now - but I now wait at least 15 minutes or I forget it or I do not like it anyway :-)

I was just asking this in the German discord - so the 66% you burned are the curation rewards you normally would receive that now goes into the reward pool, correct? Or does also the author vote reward is burned partially so both are penalised - early voter and receiver of early votes?

Before, these 66% would have gone to the author, now they are burnt - that's the only difference.

66% of the curation rewards yes - so the author rewards are not touched. Just trying to be sure this is not a hidden update too? Seems @themarkymark had a similar question / thought around commenting but seems not touched.

Lg.

beides traurig in der Tat - danke fürs Kommentieren @atego

66% would have gone to the author, now they are burnt? What does that mean, Uwe?

And yes, big events like this always brings out the bad behavior. I loved going to Oktoberfest when I lived in Germany, but, times have changed. Good that they are doing something about it.

Hi, Uwe.

66% of the curation rewards if you vote after 5 minutes will go to the reward pool - before HF20 these would be given to the author of the post. If you vote after 10 minutes 33% go back to the reward pool, voting after 15 mins nothing to reward pool - full curation options for the voter. This is only curation rewards but also is relevant for comments so it is better to vote for a comment after 15 minutes instead of immediately.

Thank you! I know how it used to be, but, I wasn't aware of how it would now work! Thanks so much!

Sehr wichtige Do's and Don'ts!

Wow, what a huge event. We have Octoberfest in our country.
Great advise for any event especially an event like this.
I love the photo with of your beautiful family.

Thanks for the sweet mention @uwelang. This is my first vote for many days.

Thanks so much for the sweet first comment - all will be good!

I did a post and will see how it goes. I also am powering down a bit. I never did very well in here like you, but have enjoyed my friends.

Hmmm - I bought some new delegation (first time ever) and rather invest more as I feel the HF20 is one of the best strategic decisions since ages (no matter how smooth the transition was for the platform).

You did very well - I saw you a part of many different communities and read a lot of great comments about you. Do not leave please @rebeccabe - that would be a major loss. Strangely I had a similar conversation today with another lady from our old platform.....

I remember telling you long ago not to leave. Funny, huh. You were going through difficult times. I could tell. I plan to stick around. Thanks for the support. You are always here for me and I appreciate that. Hug that daughter of yours for me. :)

I remember - stick with us. Whenever you need anything let me know. Hugging the little one for you - she is currently planning to NOT go to bed as supposed :-).

Oh so sweet she is one lucky little girl to have a father like you. You know you are lucky already to have her.

Your relationship will help her in the future finding the right man that treats her right. :)

I’m glad people are talking about safety. Sexual assault is serious and everyone one should feel safe and be able to enjoy the festivities.
