Science is Mathematics

in #ocd-resteem6 years ago (edited)

A few days ago I read something that personally seemed strange to me. Everybody around us can be mathematically even physically calculated. That person said that mathematics is the one that can calculate anything even "art and emotions". I started a little research and look at what I discovered.

2000 years ago we discovered that some aspects of reality can be described marvelously with mathematics.

400 years ago we described the motion of the planets using Newton's equations, and then discoveries of light, electricity, and magnetism turned out to be mathematical, subject to Maxwell's laws.

Quantum mathematics later explained that explains the properties of matter: "soft skin" or "hard nail".

As we progress in time we find that everything can be described mathematically.

Einstein offered us the unification of space and time in a 4-dimensional mathematical structure called space-time or Minkowski Space. This mathematical structure does not exist in space and time, but space-time exists within it. That is why we can not say that space-time was "created" at some point because that would imply a "time" in which it does not exist.

The Pythagorean Greeks have realized since antiquity that if everything is mathematical, then the scientists of the future will continue to discover definitions and mathematical clues in regularities, templates, or equations. Later it happened with Galileo, Newton, Maxwell, Schrodinger. The planet Neptune was mathematically predicted and then it turned out that it exists. The radio waves were also mathematically predicted, as well as the Higgs boson. Most recently, we have Alan Guth who has solved some complicated equations. If you build an experimental plant at the South Pole and spend three years freezing there, we will finally detect the extraordinary gravitational forces. The theory was confirmed.

In a Universe of all mathematical possibilities, there is an infinity of mathematical systems that can be created, imagined. The structure of reality requires a more comprehensive mathematics and the theories describing the physical world are so few, you can count on your fingers ...

My belief is that there is no difference between mathematical existence and physical existence.

Although a Mathametician is not something which should be used to describe me, there was that one day when it was revealed to me how mathameticians think.

It happened on Morris St. in Halifax, Nova Scotia about 30 years ago. It had been my decision to hold off on calculus 101 until after my first year in Computer Science was over so as to give it my full attention during a 6 week summer course.

That six weeks ended up having me eating, breathing and living calculus.

On the morning in question a study mate and myself had just finished a study session. When walking towards Dalhousie Campus on Morris St. a car was coming towards me. It remained partially blocked from view by a telephone pole as we both moved in opposite directions.

My awareness came back to me after realizing that my mind was working on an approximation of the speed of the car by using an estimate of my speed and our relative distances from the poll.

It stopped me in my tracks with the realization that this must be what is going on in the average Mathametician's mind most of the time. 😎

An interesting story. I enjoyed reading it. Thanks.

The objective of science is to produce knowledge for the benefit of society and the world. The basic sciences and specifically, mathematics and physics, have responded to many of the needs that the world demands ...
Mathematical models in the economic and financial field, for example, have been the spearhead to optimize the functioning of companies. Physics, on the other hand, has great benefits in all fields of life on earth. Space, matter and time, which are its fundamental concepts, are present in our daily life, day by day.
How important it is for a doctor to have the necessary medical equipment to diagnose adequately; X-rays, laboratory tests, tomographies and surgeries in general are subordinated to the influence of physics.

thank you for your reply

I have friends who study mathematics in school... they always find a way of relating anything to mathematics.
This is a really good post

thank you very much

Really so good post, a person who knows mathematics can easily learn physics because both are relate with each other

very, very true, my man.
Thank you very much for reading my post.

Well, I thought a lot about this topic.
The Pythagorean really thought this way, but Hippasos was one of them and they killed him for finding the golden number and sqrt(2). The reason was because the thought the world is made of rational numbers (in modern terms) and he proofed that irrational numbers exist. So they were misjudging the world.
The modern misjudging may be differential equations. If math is the answer to everything we may be able to calculate the future. I don’t think this is the truth because in this world we have free will.

Good comments.Thank you for read me .
