Pastel drawing of my dog Nala.

Hi everyone!

I'm glad to show you today a piece which I am very satisfied with. I always loved to draw my dog Nala. She is a very powerful inspiration to me, because of her beauty and for everything she brings to my daily life.

But today, I started the work again with pastel pencils. This is my favorite medium, in traditionnal technique !
Pastel pencils give both the advantage of color pencils and oil painting : precision, with the possibility of working with layers, adding lights after having already putting some colors.

Pastels give a smooth result that i like so much, and the sensation of the pencil sliding on the sheet is very satisfying.

I have a fun fact for you. First thing you have to know is that Nala recognizes herself in the mirror. And when we speak to her softly and say words of love, she is very happy. Of course, she doesn't understand the words directly, but she feels that we are happy with her. And, in these moments, she usually turns to the mirror to look at herself. Does she have pride in herself? Or is it a coincidence and I do anthropomorphism?
The fact is that, since the frame with the drawing is present in the living room, it has happened to her several times, when we have her moments of affection and sweet words towards her, she turns to the drawing and looks at it, as she does to the mirror!
Does she recognize herself in the drawing? Am I the one who's making up my mind? Feel free to give me your opinion. :D
