A Murder?, handcut collage 90/70cm.

One of the first collage artworks using my stained glass technique to cut and paste pieces of prints with gradient colours. Red is the main colour and a well suited one for an artwork with a bloody story behind. My inspiration was the classic painting Judith Beheading Holofernes by Caravaggio which visualises Judith, a Jewish princess, killing after seducing in order to save her people Holopherenes, an Assyrian general. Was Judith a murderer or a hero? I guess she was a hero for her people and also the death of one person justifies the saving of thousands, but still it was a murder. My ambiguous opinion on this subject gave birth to the title of the artwork.

Thank you @axeman:) It is a sad story indeed but also makes you wonder about situations still so contemporary.

I think she had a brave choice for her situation. Great artwork with your unique style @georgeboya

thank you so much @livvu:) I think she was brave, but maybe not enough to make the action. This is why Carravagio also painted the old lady beside her. I believe she represents her people's will and also an experienced voice of encouragment to make the final step.

Yes she's a good person so she didn't have enough braveness for that kind of action. Classic artworks are so classy right.

Yes, i agree to this. She gives out a feeling of innocence and propably she was very young too. Probably the old lady was there to finish the job in case she had second thoughts. The classics are classy indeed and always have a good story to tell:)

For the followers of Judith and those she saved, she is a heroine, killing is bad... but if she saved many people, could that death be justified?

Great job honey. ;)

Thank you for the support my dear Carmen:) She was a heroine indeed but still i am not sure if murder is a justified action. Even in order to save the lives of thousands..

I think you're right, love.
As much as it saves thousands of people, it is still bad.

Yes, I think in her mind will always be a murderer. I see your beautiful interesting comments everywhere in my posts and I am soooo much happy my sweet Carmen😘😘

Yes that's what I mean.
you will never stop being guilty, many send the thugs to do the dirty work, but that makes you the main culprit of everything.
hmmmm hehehh I'm catching up with the comments, I've realized that I lost many of yours.😱😭😭😭🙈

Your rendition looks somehow more sensual, maybe because of the fiery colors!

Well, you can say that:) This artwork is an explosion of red and back then i was at my red period. Some were bloody some were sensual but most were bloody sensual, lol.
