Steemit is different! - Rules for copyrights.

I have written two articles that dealt with the original contents, in art, linked to the retrieval of photographic sources, the transparency of the sources and the use we make of them on Steemit.
Find them here.

[1]

[2]

our social network is different and is based on Steem's blockchain.
It is a social media with high contents, with topics, articles and research that are the result of studies, innovation, analysis and above all originality, verified by other users and subject to criticism and appreciation.

We are not Facebook or Instagram where original content is often modified, shared under other IDs and then plagiarized.
On Fb and Instagram there are no rules for publication, we take a photograph, a painting, a text, a quote, and publish it freely.
On these social networks it is a real pitfall, because many do not cite sources making plagiarism and abuse of content, but they pass it smoothly, because checks do not take place, except in some cases.

On Steemit it is mandatory.
Steemit is different!

The contents must be of high quality and above all original.
Plagiarism and abuse are not allowed.

To get good quality content and to deserve upvote, we must first mention the source where the text was taken, the written quote from an author, poet or writer, the image of a work of art or photography.
Even for paintings by not famous artists, we must always mention the source.
If we take photographs, texts or music from other writers, poets, artists, musicians, we must ask them for permission to publish, always!
Otherwise it is overt plagiarism.

Steemit is different.
The contents we publish, receive prizes in cryptocurrency, the Steem, and due to the fact that our posts are paid by our votes, we must pay close attention to the transparency and the quotation of ALL THE SOURCES !.

We also pay close attention to the sources we have on other media, for example CDs - CDroms - Records - Books - Paper publishing publications, encyclopedias and more.
In most cases all these publications have the automatic copyright, take a look here:
https://www.lawfirms.com/resources/technology-law/technology-and-intellectual-property/copyright-internet.htm

Many friends, but also unknown users and artists have commented on my articles, both under the post and on discord, in private.

Most of them agreed with my comments, a minority commented asking me how can I make original content with images taken from other sources, or with images of famous works of art, therefore already existing?
I try to reply again:
We know well that art, literature, poetry and music are not invented, it is necessary to have other sources of inspiration and study.
If we use photos, texts and images of other artists, alive or dead, it is allowed only if we go to get everything free from copyrights.

I can take an image of Leonardo Da Vinci's Gioconda, I can work on it, change it, twist it, but the original photo of the Mona Lisa I worked on must be free from copyrights.

source

We can also quote a famous text, for example from Shakespeare, but we must take the quotation where we have a right, above all we must mention the original text, the source !.

This is mandatory otherwise it is plagiarism and abuse.
Someone says; Shakespeare or Leonardo have been dead for centuries and there is no copyright!
Yes, they died, but their cultural legacy published on the Internet has certainly been shared on some copyrights-free sites, find it!
But there are also other websites that own the copyright of the published work , such as the domain of the site, the work done for publication, research, study and many other parameters.
All these parameters are protected by copyright, so I have to ask permission to those who have already published photos or texts of famous artists, in order to publish in turn.
By avoiding copying and pasting or changing anything in the text.

It all comes to the surface, because there are sites that can verify if there are abuses and plagiarisms in any content,

clear?

source

On Steemit we can write and publish anything, but always in the few elementary rules of the our social.

Today I shared my artistic post, a watercolor, which can be an example for many artists who have no ideas or, just like myself, need sources to set up an artistic or scientific work.
I needed to see a traditional sailing ship:

  • I searched for images on the internet and found this image free of copyrights.
  • I took the shape and the line of the subject, sailboat and I inserted it in a new context, colored and with a lot of imagination and imagination.
  • This is an artistic work of correct photographic research.
  • I quote the source and above all I took a free copyrights image.

Many artists on Steemit publish content taken from other photographic models, to then obtain different results.
You can do, following and respecting the Steemit rules , copyright free images, mention the source where the image was taken.
Steemit is different

My usual advice: we create a our photo archive, we take thousands of photos with our mobile phones, we don't pay for the photos, as happened 20 years ago.
All you need is a memory, usb, hard disk and other solutions to store our photographs.

Can we make a collage with images of more or less famous works of art, created by other artists, alive or dead?
Certainly, it is enough to take images free of copyright, edit them, modify them and create a new artistic work.
Nothing is invented, everything is transformed, even art, but following the rules.

I will dedicate the next article to curation on Steemit, which is sometimes lacking precisely because, bona fide curators do not have all the tools to verify plagiarism or abuse.

That's why Steemit is different.
A hug free from copyrights.

Steemit is different!

https://www.lawfirms.com/resources/technology-law/technology-and-intellectual-property/copyright-internet.htm

Provo a rispondere nuovamente:

Armando

Thank you for contributing to the @utopian-io anti-abuse initiative, @armandosodano.

Your insights as an artist are invaluable. The level of art plagiarism and plagiarism in general on the Steem blockchain is at times unbelievable. Part of the reason is because the topic of plagiarism when it comes to the sources of art or other creative outputs has been overshadowed by the prevalence of plagiarism of everyday text. Regardless, plagiarism within the art community and the lack of giving credit to the sources of artistic inspiration is something that must be addressed.

Your contribution showcases your passion and desire, as a professional artist, to set others on the right path. Giving credit to their sources is one relatively-minor thing anyone can do. In fact, it is something no one should ever be hesitant in doing. We can only hope that others will follow your example and willingly choose to cite sources and give credit without being asked to do so.

In terms of your post, it was very interesting to read but the lack of formatting using the full range of markdown took away from it. Also, going forward, as @enforcer48 pointed out in the comments below, please be cognizant of the differences between Steem (the blockchain) and Steemit (one of the websites that the blockchain is accessible from). To confuse them is to confuse the readers.

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.

thank you for your in-depth comment and your analysis, I have corrected the point you suggested to me. Thank you @guiltyparties

Thank you for your review, @guiltyparties! Keep up the good work!

Excellent work Armando, your posts are having a great effect on the platform, check for example this https://steemit.com/spanish/@sosadraws/catchild
One might feel one is talking to the wall sometimes, but people are listening, and very attently.
Big hug for you!

thank you and good job!

yes I saw an excellent job as an example for others.

Very lovely art work, as usual, @armandosodano, I love how you show the original picture that inspired you, and seeing the final painting, I can SEE clearly the artistry and creativity that you have infused the artwork with :) The sea, the form of the sail boat, the sky, these have all become your own original creativity ! This is an obvious show of how an artist can be open and honest with our influences, and yet this also shows how our own ingenuity and ideas carry our own interpretations and talents on the canvas!

Your passion for art shows that you care very much about integrity of art <3 It impresses me greatly :)

It is your kind of beautiful spirits and perspectives that has enriched Steemit's art sphere and one that I will seek to continue to support <3 <3 <3

Absolutely wonderful post, Armando! Both a display of talents and a very informative and teaching type of publication !!! I love it <3 !!!!

I am very honored for your beautiful comment, thank you very much

Well, there are some users who are being attacked, no matter if they include the source or not. Like this girl here:

https://busy.org/@andrianna/who-saw-plagiarism-here-why-are-i-again-illegally-accused-and-slandered

Do you understand that @jaguar.force and all these self-appointed Police Officers of SteemIt are nothing more than regular users, just like you and me... the only difference is they happen to be rich.

So, if I win the lottery and buy enough Steem, I can claim Steem is a network where only porn can be shared... and everyone else must follow my rules of leave because I will flag them to zero if they post anything other than porn.

Do you think this is a fair model of a social network or business? I don't.

This idea seemed great ... but I'm getting so disappointed that I don't really care about these self-appointed rulers anymore. I'll do whatever I want and let them do whatever they want, too. This is a total chaos where money is the only real rule. If you have enough money, you can dictate the rules yourself.

I thought the Blockchain would be a better model but it has proven to be the exact opposite. I have bought plenty of Steem but now I'm just thinking about recovering my investment and I won't throw another penny at this network.

I'd rather hold BTC than a shitcoin that only goes down because the community is full of rich bullies and the majority of the whales are too scared of them to stand up.

I don't know if they have the money, but I'm interested in cleaning the contents, as there are many artists who do a hard job posting original content.
I too have invested and remain in doing my duty as a teacher and educator to the right rules.
A hug

Hello!

Much love to you from all of us at @helpie!
Keep up the great work!

Manually curated by @veryspider.

Some people find it difficult to grasp the concept of intellectual property. It doesn't matter that someone passed away. It's still his/her work and you can't just publish it without mentioning the author. But I think that most of those people questioning such copyright have never created anything themselves :) BUT your post is very good and you explained it very well. Thank you for that!!

Of course a post with images/citation/etc that are not yours can be original. As long as you don't plagiarize content, source your information and only use it to support your work/thoughts there is no problem whatsoever. It's sad that many people don't understand that and there is always some discussion about it..

Thank you for those rules to sail in the sea :) PS: Your painting is beautiful (but you know this already :))

thanks you are adorable a big hug. Ciao

Minor correction:

Please use the term Steem when referring to the blockchain.

Steemit is like nTopaz. Another frontend/platform on the blockchain.

Steem is the blockchain.

Steemit is a frontend (aka the dapp).

Ciao @armandosodano, questo acquerello mi piace moltissimo! È il mio preferito, complimenti. I colori sono bellissimi!

grazie veramente @bafi un abbraccio.
