Welcome to the 21st State of the Sndbox newsletter! This is week, we’ve presented a project portfolio for Sndbox, explore the world of Urbanism and Oracles, put out another member interview, and launched a full review of all of Sndbox’s development in the first few months.

A (Half) Year in Review
This week marks the end of our 5th month since our launch this past July. In that time, we’ve been able to pursue a diverse array of Steemit-based activities and growth programming. We’re always striving to make the maximum amount of impact with our operations and that includes being 100% transparent so we can share our experiences and receive invaluable feedback.

For the remaining 3 posts, we’ll go deeper into our outreach activities, project impact, and the roadmap for 2018.
Sndbox Project Portfolio
We’ve compiled all the major workshops and projects now that we and our members have officially launched major initiatives these past months. Our growing diverse portfolio includes projects such as infrastructural development, community growth, and educational curriculum integration.

Urbanism and Oracles
We’ve begun to brainstorm how SMTs and Oracles will enrich the Steemit ecosystem in the near future. Last week, we put out an article of how we think Oracles structures might completely revolutionize the concepts of civic engagement and community growth. New decentralized structures may have tremendous implications on social spaces within cities.

I did not know there was such a project. The more I learn/read, the more I like steemit! Checking out your welcome to steemit post now :)
I checked out your “Introduction to Steemit” and liked it, except maybe the part where you compare steem to Pokémon cards... I’m bookmarking it so I can read it again in a few weeks, every day steemit is more understandable.
Haha that's a fair critique, what specifically did you not like about the Pokémon/crypto comparison? It'll help us better explain in the future...
Pokemon for me means declining value. If you have a very valuable card, it’s almost unusable because bending it will take its “mint” away. I see steem as gaining value. However, I must admit, the analogy was well written.

Really enjoying the end of year "state of the nation" type series, especially as a newbie to Steemit trying to catch up. I really appreciate the simplified nature of your explanations. That said, have you done or are you planning to do an explainer of the new SMT system? I understand it somewhat, but the thing I have always struggled with when it comes to "tokens", especially these Steem based SMT's is how they relate to STEEM/SBD/Steem Power, if at all.
Might be that this is all new territory so it's a bit unknown, but since the value of STEEM is a "known quantity", how would one value these tokens outside of the platform utilizing them?

That's a very valid and excellent question @gyrosean! Here's the Steemit Inc. whitepaper on SMTs. It'll help get to the roots of those questions.
To be honest, we don't have a full picture of what SMTs will look like either / how they'll be constructed off of the existing Steem Steem-Power SBD system. We believe that they'll act similarly to ERC20 tokens.... an ERC20 is to Ethereum as... an SMT is to Steem. (Steem being the backbone for everything.)
