Packs of Radioactive Boar are Threatening SwedensteemCreated with Sketch.

That title sounds like something from a horror story or a messed up video game. I just read a report in the National Post and then another in The Daily Telegraph that confirms it.

I thought maybe some of my followers may find this interesting aswell so I thought I'd share it today..

The wild boars are tainted by rummaging through the ground around the town of Sarnsjo, the soil there has extremely high levels of caesium 137 that has blown in from the Chernobyl disaster 31 years ago.

According to Swedish scientists the top of the earth has far lower levers of radioactive caesium but the deadly element is preserved deeper down in the soil, at the prime level that these animals forrage for food.

Boars are more affected than other animals due to their eating habits. The animals dig through the soil with their snouts in the search for food.

Farmers in Sweden are concerned hunters may not want to shoot the animals now and their numbers could swell. Currently they already face problems from the packs of beasts ravaging forests and farmlands.

Some of the beasts killed and tested have registered 10 times the level of radiation that is safe for human handling. One specimen actually registered the highest levels of contamination ever recorded.

According to tracking data the boars are moving north toward more populated areas which could lead them into contact with far more humans than they have in the past.

I'll definately try to keep updated on this as I find the story quite fascinating..and scary! 😨

I really have know Idea in what I would do, if faced with one of this beast unarmed

Climb a tree maybe and cry for help? Lol

Yup, that's the only way. Unless you can run faster than 30 mph, or just want to bend over and kiss your ass goodbye!

You read two different newspapers?

I have my assistant read them to me while I figure out complex mathematical equations on a chalk board ed

lol -- tell it like it is man! you're the professor of radioactive wild boar!!!

Thank you msp. U rock my g spot

Until I actually saw a boar in real life, I had no concept of how a pig could kill a human. They seem so small in pictures.
But holy crap now that I've had experience with wild pigs, I'm much more concerned about them than mere rattlesnakes and brown recluse spiders.
They're as solid as wrecking balls!
It's like if that rolling boulder from Indiana Jones had giant tusks and a really bad attitude.
Even sharks can be discouraged with a poke to the eye or the gills. I think if you poked a boar in the eye it'd just piss him off even more.

I've seen pictures of some and they can get huge! Those friggers seem unrelentless too if they were pissed off lol

Haha I bet! I never, ever want to find out.

Tell me about it I'm from Sweden I know
😉lol
You often meet those ugly beasts as you Drive your cars and many signs has been up to be aware.
I don't have one in my garden yet though so I'm good.... Lol
Cool post my friend 😆

Sara u promise you'll be safe! Watch out for your pets too..oh I'm so worried now..maybe you should move to Canada? 😊

You think so?🤔 hmm...Don't want the beasts
to eat my little dog or cat.
No safe haven here then.... Ugly beasts on the run. Good steak though 🍗🍖 😁😁
I'm packing my bags right now, can't live under those surcomstanses anymore.
I'm moving to Canada, better warn the sitizen I'm coming.... Hahaha
Private Jet ready? 😁😁😁😁hahaha
You are the sweetest my dear 🤗

Yeah just get to the airport and I'll have everything arranged for ya 😁

Why Thank you I feel so much better😆
They can't get to me in Canada... Lol

We have a wild boar problem here in Alberta so you probably aren't safe anywhere.... 🐗

Ähhhh... Damn nowhere to hide then 😯😛 well then let them come... Lol

You can always come to Texas where the government puts out an open season on pests, and the hunters go to town!

Oooh I was waiting for the funny part...haha I don't like this one cause I'm already still a bit scared from watching train to busan last night which started from some weird chemical thing like this....don't like this one bit. 😵

I agree it is fascinating and down right scary at the same time

Where do you find this stuff...Kinda sounds scary man.

I have my sources lol National Post is where I read the initial story. I subscribe to so many new sources man. Anything radioactive gets my attention and then I saw it was wild boars and that definately piqued my interest to find out more. Sounds like a friggin horror story except it's not made up 😨

This is quite scary when you consider that the Chernobyl disaster was 31 years ago and how far the ash clouds drifted. Just consider what other animals and plant life have been affected by the radiation.

Yeah ash clouds are exactly what's carried the radioactive dust so far and deposited it over such a large range its unreal. I saw a documentary where a gentleman is still living in the town beside the site with a bunch of dogs. Amazing he's still alive..everyone else has long fled that area

And he will eventually succumb to some horrible cancer caused by the radiation...

I came face to face with a family of wild boar in Turkey while walking back from the bar, lets put it this way i sobered up in an instant.

I bet. I never wanna see one up close unless it's in a zoo or in my plate :)
