How Big is the illegal drug problem in the Philippines?

according to PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency) in the year 2015 1 out 5 Barangay's in the Philippines are affected by illegal drugs in Metro Manila almost 92% of the community is affected by illegal drugs.

Who are being hunted down by the government?

Most people that are being hunted down are the street level or small time drug pushers and users,

but as per PNP (Philippine National Police) Spokesperson Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos *These are operations of our lower units by our police stations so the operations in that level normally the small time drug pushers and users are the one's that are targetted.

PNP said they are also targeting the big time personalities related to illegal drugs like the rumored No.1 Drug lord in central visaya's Jaguar Diaz who is killed in one of the operations of PNP.

The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte publicly named the Generals who are running and protecting these illegal drugs syndicates, the President will also release a memorandum for the city mayors and barangay officials to investigate the areas with high illegal drug activities.

How many were killed?

accoding to abs-cbn news a total of 3,407 drug personalities has been killed from may 10, 2016 to may 9, 2017

Breakdown:
1,897 (56%) = killed during police operations
1,290(38%) = killed by unidentified assailants
220(6%) = Bodies found away from the crime scene

more than half of the drug-related fatalities reported from may 10, 2016 to may 9, 2017 occured in only five provinces and five cities(58% or 1,993 out of 3,407)

  1. Bulacan (427)
  2. Manila (304)
  3. Quezon city (281)
  4. Cebu (262)
  5. Caloocan City (240)
  6. Pangasinan (108)
  7. Laguna (98)
  8. Pasig City (97)
  9. Rizal (92)
  10. Pasay City (84)

On the average 5 were killed in police operations daily over the past year while 9 drug related deaths (including those killed in police operations occurred daily during the same period).

If not killed during police operations then who?

This is the biggest question right now no other group has claimed these killings. PNP Chief Ronald "Bato" Dela rosa said that these killings maybe done by a Vigilante group or maybe ordinary people who are against drugs we can never tell, but the PNP has always been against extrajudicial killings that's why we are conducting investigations on this.

Dela Rosa also said that there is a big possibility that the members of the drug syndicates are doing this to cleanse their organization so that no one can point them to the police there are many possibilities.

What is the Human Rights Commission say on this?

according to Tom Lantos of the Human Rights Commission

Since taking office, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has unleashed a human rights calamity.
The government’s murderous “war on drugs,” drug-related overcrowding of jails, and the harassment and prosecution of drug war critics has caused a steep decline in respect for basic rights since Duterte’s inauguration on June 30, 2016.

Duterte justifies his anti-drug campaign as a life-or-death struggle against a “drug menace” that he claims threatens to transform the Philippines into a “narco state.” He is untroubled by the fact that the statistics he brandishes to back up this hyperbole are flawed, exaggerated, or fabricated.

In the Philippines, security forces and “unidentified gunmen” have killed more than 7,000 suspected drug users and dealers since July 1, 2016, including at least 3,116 killings by police, according to government data.

That death toll also doesn’t include the victims that Duterte calls “collateral damage” – children shot in the crossfire of anti-drug operations. The extraordinary brutality of the Duterte drug war is undeniable. Many of the victims are found in back alleys or street corners wrapped in packing tape, their bodies bullet-ridden or bearing stab wounds and other signs of torture.

How big is the involvement of PNP and AFP on illegal drugs?

Since Generals are involved in illegal drugs its big, there are also police officers related to illegal drugs arrested and killed during police operations, even members of the SWAT team were caught using drugs during the said operations,

according to CPP (Communist Party of the Philippines) there is a campaign against notorious illegal drugs a long time ago, the everyday raids of PNP indicates that they know the operation of these syndicates they are not arresting or raiding them before because the PNP and LGU officials are involved in these syndicates.

Not only PNP and AFP are connected to illegal drugs, PDEA NBI and DILG are also deeply involved in illegal drugs.

During the time of election President Duterte said that PDEA is useless because one of its highest official is involved in illegal drugs which Duterte didn't publicly named.

Is it possible for illegal drugs to be completely wiped out in a society?

It is said that it happened in china for 3 years after winning the revolution 1949, Mao Tse Tung Mobilized the citizen to be against illegal drugs by educating the people of how destructive illegal drugs can be in a society, local citizens in this time are burning illegal drugs, they are treating drug addicts as victims of the system and praised those who surrendered instead of capturing them, if arrested they put them under neighborhood watch or rehabilitated.

on the other hand big drug traffickers are sent to trial in front of the citizens where people who's lives are destroyed by illegal testify, the sentence are life imprisonment or death these case are very minimal because only 5 to 6 drug traffickers were caught and sentenced in big cities during this time.

in almost 20 years, drug addiction has been out of china illegal drugs returned to china during 1976 because of taking the path of capitalism and the leaders of china's denial to socialist revolution this is proof that without socialist revolution there is no chance for illegal drugs to be wiped out of society.
