The Little Voice #day 5

How many voices do you have? Have you ever stopped to think?

I started steemit 11 days ago. From sign-up to now. In the first couple of days I was silenced, waiting in line. Would I be lucky? Would I get in?

It felt like I was waiting to see if I’d made it into the Country Club, the fanciest nightclub in town, the Goldsmiths Guild... you name it... the place where you hold special value to and so...really...really want to get in. That place.

And then you frantically research as much as you can to check out the place. Make sure you know how to behave, what to say, and so on.

You check for the voice you will need to use.

And you realise... you know nothing...Jon Snow...

Apologies to anyone who’s not a GOT fan - but if you are - you know you’ve got to comment now - we’re both in that other club. The one that requires you to watch lots of tv over eons because you were there from the beginning and you’ll damn well be there to the bitter end...

Or did you get the box set? Sit and binge watch? You know that’s cheating, right? And you’re not a “real” fan? ;)

Or better yet, did you make it into the VIP section because you READ all the books? Well apart from the last few.

C’mon George! We believe in you! You can do it! Or should I say “Just Do It” and see if we can get some sponsorship from a well-known sports brand. - because this is definitely a marathon.

Cor blimey Guv’nor! Ain’t this steemit place ‘ard to get in? I’m not used to being kept silent. Apart from when at the dinner table. Then it’s best to keep shtum. But never you mind that. We were talking about voices.

When I did finally arrive in steemit. My first instinct was to share my voice. I began to write a daily journal for little voice. This here post is #day5. Little Voice is the voice that comes out when I’m new...when I don’t know what I’m doing...when I want to show vulnerability...in the hope I’ll find my kindred spirits...the kind-hearted people...those ones that are just aw shucks too nice!

Why TOO nice I ask you? Why has being “nice” turned into TOO nice? But if you’re reading this and get what I’m saying then let me know? Cos that means you’re nice too.

But then there’s the crazy voice. It might not be aired too often but you hear it. It’s the voice that tells you how to be. Narrates the story you are living. This is the secret voice. The one that only comes out when you feel safe. And safe is different for everybody.

Am I sharing that voice now? Can you hear my voice? The one I’m sharing as I stand...up! Comedy is an amazing art and I find it fascinating. Those men and women who stand up and share so intimately...now that’s a voice...or club I’d love to join...but the inner voice, that little voice is saying “No! Too scary!”

Like there are degrees.

Are there? Or is that just another voice you’ve taken on? We move around in so many different social groups, and each has its own rule book, or etiquette. There’s a right way and a wrong way.

But some voices that are used in one place...cannot be used in every place.

The context requires you to choose which voice you will be using...and when.

The little voice decides to grow. It gains in confidence.

Perhaps.

Or maybe, it decides to lessen, who knows how the voice will sound...I'm still figuring out the context. There are definitely parameters that at first I did not see and bumped into. Your voice is curtailed as a newbie. It's a hard fork to swallow but you suck it up. You move forward. You learn the territory.

The great thing is that now I’m in.

It’s like Wonderland.

And it’s all getting, "Curiouser and curiouser!" The more I’m finding out there are a plethora of other voices. I am listening to them sing. A beautiful chorus.

These steemians love the written word. They share. They stand up. They raise themselves. There is power in that.
