It’s been a while since I ran a contest. @newbiegames in conjunction with @newbieresteemday have been encouraging interaction between new Steemians. Building relationships is your best chance of succeeding here… and a great way to find awesome people.
Nominate Each Other
For this contest, you have to write a post about what another Steemian Newbie is doing well. Ideally, they would be within the @newbieresteemday / @newbiegames circle, but if not, that's ok too.
Write about:
- Why you admire them
- What they do well (could be the same as above)
- How they have impacted you
- How you've changed your behavior to model them
- Why you think everyone should follow them
The Prize
The winner and the person they nominated will each win 1SBD.
The winner of this contest will be determined by the community. The whole point is to encourage interaction, right?
To vote for an entry, after reading the post, come back to this page and respond to the comment with "vote." Easy. Feel free to say more about what you like about each of the contestants if you'd like.
The rewards will pay out after this 7 days.
Rules
- The person you nominate MUST be a newbie (defined here as "Less than 150 combined Steem+SP+SBD") Note: This is also going to be subjective to me since I want to reward people who are working hard and trying to build community. If someone is transferring their value to blocktrades and "profit-taking" that's their right, but not what I'm trying to encourage. The entry would be invalidated.
Entries
Each entry much do the following:
- Write an article on another Steemian following the rules above
- Use the hashtag #newbiegamesnoname as the first tag
- Include the hashtag #newbiegames
- Include a link to your post in the comments below
- Upvote and Resteem not required, but encouraged

Lookit you get involved with the games now! This is actually a really sweet idea because it makes people look outward instead of inward...always a beautiful thing. Actually, I think in terms of commenting especially, but success in general on steemit, it really does require a selfless mentality. And that's not a bad mentality to take out into the real world as well!

Yes, and I'm trying to get newbies to recognize each other. It's easy to look at people with fat wallets and say "they're doing something right." It's harder to look at another newbie and list what they are doing right... but there are lots of things. They just haven't gotten noticed yet. Hopefully this will help them notice other newbies, and develop their own craft.
Feel free to write a post nominating one of our newbies if you would like!
I remember @davemccoy saying something a long time ago (well, within the last two months ;) that has stuck. It was something like this:
Right now, all of us don't have much to offer in terms of upvoting value, but if we stick together, and grow together, there will come a time when we do.
Actually, I was way more articulate there than he was haha
And yes, I will think about nominating someone as well. It's difficult to choose because I always worry about hurting someone's feelings!
If @themanwithnoname run this contest every week, then you'll get to write about all those you wish to write about, right? ;)

Question! The things to write about them, does it have to be within Steemit or out of Steemit is acceptable?
If they're doing awesome things outside of Steemit (like #ophumanangels) and they're writing about it on Steemit, go for it! The goal is to highlight Steemians, not just awesome humans... although we can do a contest for that at some point too. This contest is to highlight those whose actions on Steemit/Busy/esteem are actions that we all should copy. Makes sense?
