Beware! Vampires are coming back!

The world of Vampyr takes place after the Great War, in London 1918, devastated by the conflict and the rapidly spreading Spanish Flu and a mysterious illness among its citizens.

While the government struggles to rebuild th country, ancient vampire societies, occult scholars and vampire hunters all compete for dominance in a shadowy conflict lasting for millennia.

You play as Dr. Jonathan Reid, a brilliant surgeon and researcher, widely admired by his colleagues. During the Great War he enlisted as a military doctor, partly to test his progressive theories on blood transfusion and organ transplantation. As the war comes to its final point, Dr. Reid is sent home. While returning home to meet his family, he's attacked by a strange figure murmuring a dark poem and loses consciousness in the street.

After awakening, cursed with a terribly thirst for human blood, Dr. Reid sets out to find a cure for his vampiric condition, trying to maintain a rational and scientific method all while coming to terms with a supernatural world.

As a doctor you have taken an oath to help those in need, and with your medical expertise you have the means to find a cure that could save the city. On the other end, you're also a newly-turned vampire that needs to survive and feed on innocents.

You'll face both human and supernatural foes and in order to evolve your vampiric abilities and grow stronger you'll have to feed on the blood of those you swore to protect. Of course there's no way to resist the hunger, but at least you'll be able to choose your victims. Walking the flu ravaged streets of London you can learn about its citizens, their daily routines, relationships, jobs, family, their stories. Each character you talk to as a purpose in the game, if you cause an impact in one of them, you'll touch the others. There are consequences when you choose a victim.

Its been a while since the last time a vampire inspired RPG came out, as long as I'm aware. Vampyr is reminiscent of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, a game publish in 2004 that loved and is one of the best in this genre. I've been waiting for a sequel ever since. Albeit this may not be it, it's as close as you can get this year.

Being developed by DONTNOD Entertainment and publish by Focus Home Interactive, Vampyr is set to be release on June 5, 2018 on PC, PS4 and XBOX.
