Sadness and Grief
This no real #needleworkmonday post. But I felt I should write this as many of you helped me not only with yarn and fabric, but also supported me when I felt ill with migraines or did not know how to cope with my fathers illness.
Some month ago I also told you about a very good friend of mine, with whom I have studied together and shared a flat (and even one sleeping room) in Italy. She got a aggressive form of cancer year before last, directly after marrying her long time partner. It was a time filled with so many ups and downs…. Several times doctors told her she will not wake up the next morning, but although a small woman she fought for every day.
Three weeks ago after another emergency she was checked and a doctor suddenly saw a change to the better and wanted to try another round of treatment. This was such a marvellous message as she was in palliative care from the beginning of her diagnosis.
I don’t know what happened, but last Thursday her health rapidly declined and she died on Saturday.
I am devastated. I had so much hope fo her that she will have a bit more time. I wanted to walk with her through a park again or drink hot chocolate which she loved. I wanted to hear her talk about old films and history, about folk tales or Barbies. Yes, Barbies… I think she was the only person who could spark interest in me about Barbies.
She was a caring friend who made me always feel better when I saw her or talked to her. I wanted her to be happy for much longer.

I think this post is more for me than anybody else... I want to remember her. I don‘t want her to die. I don‘t want to pressure anybody to write. I know that you are all here and many of you have lost loved ones yourself. I send you all hugs.

Sorry... but this post seems to have doubled. No idea how this happened nor how to remedy this. I want to decline the payout, but in this second (double) post I cannot change the setting.... If someone knows how to do it afterwards, I would be happy to know.

I'm sorry for your loss @neumannsalva. I think she was happy to have a great friend like you. She lives in you with a lot of of nice memories.

Thank you so much for your kind words... Neverthless, it feels so useless and unnecessary. She was so young...

That's right. She must be too young. I wish you can take time. We are anytime here for you!

😥❤😪🌹
Condolences to you and her family. That is so sad that she was getting better and then this happened.
Grief is so hard on people and expressed in many ways. Your post today will be a part of this blockchain as long as it exists. Add her name. Make it a true memorial.

We have a close friend who died suddenly 6 years ago at the end of April. Every year on the closest weekend we get together with his family and friends to raise a toast and remember him.

And when you can, once the worst of the grief is past, celebrate her life, short though it was. She left but you still carry her in your heart. ❤

Thank you so much for your words. I never considered that this text will be here for as long as there is an internet. I love this. But she was not a very tech affine/social media person and there are hardly any digital photos of her. I am not sure if she wanted me to add her name or a photo of her. I will think about it and talk with her husband.
I still cannot accept/understand that she is gone. There are so many things I know of she wanted to do, for example she has written a childhood story and wanted it to publish is. I am not sure if her husband is able/or want to go on with this.
I am sorry you also lost someone close so early. I would want the world to be different.
Sending you hugs ❤️

I am so very deeply sorry for the loss of your dear close friend. It’s one thing to know someone’s health is failing but another when there is hope that comes. I know what it feels like to think someone will overcome their situation and get better then for it to suddenly decline, it’s not easy to fathom. I know words won’t bring her back or even make you feel at peace right now but know the words that you receive today are from the heart of your friends. We care about you and are hoping you will be able to keep her memory alive as you continue on with yours ~

Here’s two flowers in loving memory of a beautiful friendship that blossomed.

P.S. I would love to hear about her love of Barbies and what interests her the most about them...if you’re ever up to sharing :)

♥️♥️

Thank you so much for answering and for your supporting words. I know that perhaps most of us have already lived through loss and grief, but sometimes these makes me feel alone. Although word cannot change this tragedy, they help to not feel so alone with this.
Ramona was such a tough woman, she had not an easy life and I would have wished for her to have more happiness. She just married... I have no idea how her husband will cope with this. He already lost his first wife to illness.
But as she was a very uplifting spirit, I will now stop my own wallowing and explain the Barbie context :-)
As I wrote above Ramona was adopted and had her biological roots in south Italy. This showed in her having amazingly beautiful dark brown hair (to her hips) and her adoptive parents wanted her as a young child to have toys which looked like her and sought out dark haired Barbies, which were very seldom. This was the starting point for her love of them. She explained that there are different kind of head styles from which she preferred a special type (sorry, I am not very educated with Barbies). She collected Barbies with more fancy dresses and also historical ones, or important woman of history.
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️

You are very welcome. Thank you for letting us know, I know how tough it can be to talk about things like this. You are definitely not alone in feeling this way. 💗

How sweet and special that is. Her love of Barbies came from the love of her parents. Thank you so much for sharing that with me ~ 😊

❤ Although we're far away, we are with you in your sorrow, @neumannsalva.

Thank you so much for writing and distracting me ❤️❤️ I hope your dress is coming along well. I am still curious which version it will be 😊

I am so sorry to hear this @neumannsalva. Losing a friend to illness is so very hard. I will be praying for your peace and the peace of her family. May the happy memories that you two had bring you comfort.

Thank you so much for your prayers and your kind words. I still cannot believe she really died. I have no idea how her husband will cope...

I feel you @neumannsalva 😢 Losing someone close and loved to an illness is so hard. I lost a very close relative to some progressive cancer about 3 years ago and watching her suffer was heartbreaking. She too was showing positive signs after a year into treatment but her health took a sudden steep decline during the last 2 months of her life. I was visiting her a few times a week in the hospital for the 1.5 years she was there and we shared many happy chats together, although she didn’t recognize me towards her last week or so. And I am very happy to have shared the memories with her. She was such a happy go lucky person, always positive and always baking and cooking yummy food for me. I still miss her but I will always remember her. You will too and I wish you and your friend’s loved ones all the strength and peace to go through this hard and sad time 💕💕💕

I am so deeply sorry you also had to go through this. Ramona was at home mostly as she was from the beginning so ill that the doctors only tried a chemotherapy once, afterwards it was more about pain relief or helping her to eat / drink. But although I intellectually knew she was terminally ill, I always hoped there will be a wonder.
Things like this should not happen...
Thank you so much for your kind words and I send you big hug ❤️

Sorry for your loss. Losing someone close is difficult. Even more so when it is sudden.

Thank you for taking time to write. I guess it only seem to me to be suddenly ... but she was already very ill for 1,5 years. But nevertheless I always hoped there will be a wonder and she saved.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Friends are a treasure and I hope that over time your pleasant memories of her will replace your feelings of grief.

Thank you’ll much for your kind words and support. Sometimes I don’t know were to put all those grief... and I can hardly imagine that it will become less with time. But I still hope. 🌈💕
