Last week, I shared about this linear stitch, originally it was a mending technique, and nowadays it is beyond and expanding. Today I want to share its further technique.

Basically, it is all lines. All you need to do is do a running stitch.

So how to sew them? In which order?
Not necessary to do as it seems. To tell you the truth, there is no correct way, but you try to sew them the most efficient way and least cutting the thread!!
Which is....

Like this.
Each of us have our own favorite way, and I like to do parallel lines first.
Again, there is no right or wrong, you could proceed to adjacent line as well. Choose your path!

And if the next start is just 1 inch or 3cm away, no need to cut the thread.

You loosen the thread at the back side a bit and continue. If it is tight, it might shrink and fabric will have wrinkles.

Of course, if you are not comfortable with that, do the back stitch to cut the thread.

======================

And here is how to change the thread color in the middle of the the running stitch like my green bag.

Where you want to stop, do 1 back stitch.

Prepare the next color. Go to 3 stitch behind, and do 1 back stitch.

Then just keep on going!!

This is my free hand.... I collected all the pots and pans, lids and plates all over my house!

Lastly, my master piece.

Real mending over here!!!
I must say, my husband is glued to his jeans. I mean, he never wants to let it go.
It's very old, I don't know how many times I mended...chaotic...
Does any of you or your family member are like my hubby?

Yep, there really is no correct way to stitch. I learnt some stitches in school when I was a young teen tho but all that's forgotten now , I just stitch the best way I can lol.
That jean, say no more the one culprit of not letting
go 🙋, that's me. I have so many clothes that I've been wearing since I was a teenager and I still wear today despite their worn out condition. Its what got me attracted to your post about the beautifying holes in your shirt.

@wondermaey wow, you are so attached to them... clothes do accumulate memories as well, don't they?

I do let go t-shirts with holes but the shirt I tailored? I still keep the one I made during highschool. They are like my babies!!!

Thanks for this tutorial @naomipangolin... I have written before about the tear in @tinygalaxy's jacket... I know I can repair it... if only she stopped wearing her favourite jacket for a while... 😊

You're welcome @cryptocariad!! I went see your post, I like that sock rag rug. That oval shape.... looks good to me to make a slipper or flip flop at home and clean my kitchen while I'm walking around. hmmm😊

Your posts just keep getting better! Thanks so much for the tutorial..especially the diagrams. I wondered how to run the stitching efficiently. I love the simple circles....your colours are striking.

And those jeans...LOL! I have to admit to having a pair myself...though not as "reconstructed" as his yet.....but getting there. Thanks again. I'm going to try this.

Hi @fiberartists! I'm so glad you like it!!

Yes....the jeans are like adopted familiy member but my husband is way far in the different universe, oh my goodness, he has 2 more jeans in similar state..

I really love this technique that you have been writing about! I love how the colors intertwine and make this beautiful pattern. Your work is really neat!

Oh yes I’ve had a pair before that I didn’t want to let go of so back then my mom would sew patches over the holes lol. Now I have new ways I could mend a pair thanks to learning so much from my fellow crafters every Monday! 😊 Thank you so much for sharing.

You' re welcome @crosheille!!! 3 cheers to your mom!!

When my old jeans were worn out, I did double take or tripple take before I said good-bye to it. Sadly, the holes were at the bum side, hahaha, that is where I draw a line.

Haa!! I would draw the line there too! 😂

This is really beautiful @naomipangolin! I've always wanted to try this. I bought a "kit" from daiso few years back but haven't worked on it. Now that I read your post, I am "itchy" to try 😊

Oh my god, really? It would be nice @marblely! Do share with us when you complete it😊😊😊
