Happy #NeedleWorkMonday Everyone!!! Today is the day we get to share the Preemie hats we made for our Community Project #1 ’Project NICU Warmth’!

As you all know this project was very dear to me as I have experienced having a family member in the care of the NICU as we wait, hope and pray for a miracle. I was really blown away by your generous and willing hearts to jump right in and get going on this project. There were even a couple of people, @lturner and @mamabear72 that recently just joined our group and jumped right in to participate 2 weeks after the first initial project announcement. This says a great deal about the type of people we have in this community! Thank you for your loving hearts❣️

I really enjoyed making these little hats and I’m glad to say I accomplished my goal and made 10! 😃 I loved seeing what size they turned out to be as I finished them. I used several hook sizes in order to get a variety of sizes using this Pattern. I used hook sizes D, E, F, G and H. It really was a good feeling knowing I will be helping these little fighting babies to stay warm while in the NICU~

I was disappointed that I couldn’t add any appliqué flowers to some of the girly colors. I have a huge bag of appliqués, buttons, beads, ribbon etc. that I cannot find at the moment. I have invested a lot of time and monies in collecting these things to keep on hand. I am praying hard I find it. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to make any little flowers myself to put on so they will remain as they are. Hopefully the next time I donate items I will be able to spruce them up a bit.

Here are a few more pics of the finished hats...

Here are some general guidelines for preparing your hats after completion:

Please wash soiled items with unscented detergent before sending.
Do not use fabric softener.
Don’t forget to weave in your ends on knit/crochet items!
For a sewn item, double check for pins and clip all loose threads.
Package each hat/bootie set for the NICU in a separate ziploc bag.

Thank you again to all that were able to participate. We will be coming up with more project ideas in the future that everyone will be able to participate in no matter what your skills are. They turned out very nicely! Beautiful colors to brighten the parents day!

Thank you so much! Mission accomplished! ☺️

I had to google NICU and after finding the twerm... I so hope all went well with your family. Having a newborn baby in the hospital is kind of worst case! So you helping with this hats is a beautifull idea and I absolutely love how you arragened them on the photos. ALos working them without flowers or embellishments is perhaps better, because they are safer for the babys. I also love the bright colours, I think a little bit of brightnes can help, if your child is in care. So all in all a wonderful idea. (Don't you want to write down the pattern?? :-D I will go on an push a little bit, because you have so much to give)
thank you for your post

Thank you dear friend! Yes all went well with my niece. A miracle happened to where the cyst on her brain shrunk and disappeared on it’s own! I saw how much it uplifted my sisters spirit when my niece received a beautiful crocheted hat. It can make a world of difference when someone shows you generosity.

Thanks! I had fun doing the hat photo shoot! 😄 I have gotten a few comments that it’s probably better without embellishments so that makes me feel better.

Of course!! It’s not my pattern but I know where to get it!!! Here’s the Link ;)

They are so cute and for a real good cause well done :)

Tip!

Thank you so much dear friend! I really appreciate your support! Thank you so much for the tip! ☺️

My pleasure 😎

Bravo!

Some mommas in the town where I live did this before, I was so proud of them. Too bad I don't even sew nicely, I can't crochet at all, even after countless YouTube videos. I'm hopeless 😌

I thank you for doing this! My oldest was premature and contracted a bactery at the hospital, was in NICU for a bit, in winter, and he was given a crocheted hat at the hospital ❤️

I love hearing about other community’s getting together to donate to a cause like this! Thank you very much for those seeet words.

I gave up a couple of times on crocheting until I finally nailed it. It takes awhile to get used to but the key is sticking with it and keep trying! 😉

I’m so glad your baby received crocheted love while in the NICU! It can really put smiles on families faces~ ☺️

Your little handmade preemie hats are adorable, and the lives they help save will make a permanent difference! It'sprobably better that there are no embellishments, anyway. Amazing job, dear!

Thank you so much my dear!!! I really want to help out these families. I appreciate that, I was really sad I couldn’t add anything but it’s good to know you think they’re fine the way they are :)

Been awhile @crosheille. Nice work you have here. Beautifully made and colourful. Well done!

Thank you very much @happoculturation! Thank you for the kind words and thank you for viewing ~ 😊

These are really beautiful hats. And you choice of color is just amazing.
Personally, I think it's still really wonderful even without the applique flowers. They just look matured.
I'd be happy if you could organize an online tutorial and teach us how to make stuffs like this.

Thank you for such a wonderful comment @victoriaslessor! I really appreciate the positive feedback. My future goal is to get some beginner crochet tutorials posted on here. I just haven’t had the time to get it set up yet. Stay tuned ;)

beautiful beanies! love the color choices, they are very happy colors! My mom and fiancé make blankets for children at our local hospital! great job making an impact !

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the support and your nice feedback! I’m so glad you liked the colors :)

That is really neat. How long have they been making blankets? Feel free to share them with us for #NeedleworkMonday if you ever get the chance. We are all about inspiring one another. 😊

sounds really awesome, ill be sure to do that next time I have a chance to take a couple photos! catch u on your next post ttyl!

👌🏽😃!!!

This is a skill I wish I had learnt. Funny enough my Mom knits , nice work. Some babies will be warm tonight, thank you for that.

You still can learn!! 😊 Just as I am trying to learn to sew and my mom has been a seamstress for over 30 years. She tried to teach my sister and I but we were too young to understand the benefit in learning. I surely regret that.

Thank you so much the kind words. ☺️

Wow, 30 years is a lot of experience, we are reverse then! I sew and you knit... cool. Its never too late to learn something new tho if you really would like to learn how to sew. Although my mum gets pretty busy these days but I know if I make a little effort she might show me one or two steps. I'll start by buying a knitting thread and pin.

Yes! She’s been sewing since middle school age! My mom told me she could still give me a few pointers. I’ve been teaching myself since Life is so busy for everyone. I watch a lot of YouTube videos which helps. I hope you get to learn knitting as you wish! 😊

Thanks, just basics for now🙂

Same here 😊

The hats are adorable as they are. You are amazing - 10 hats! I tip my hat to you :)

I really appreciate that! Thank you kindly~ 😊
