My 2018 NeedleWorkMonday - A Glance Back
Last week @akipponn took us down memeory lane as she shared her needlework of 2018! I thought that was a great idea and decided to do the same.
This was a really great year for the needlework community! We started the communal account @needleworkmonday, our Discord group, lots of new members joined us, we had quite a few contributors (we will be making a contributors list and keeping it updated, more on that soon) and we now have more people working behind the scenes to keep our community supported, active and informed.
We also had quite a few people we didn’t hear from as much toward the end of this year. Some got really busy with their work, switching jobs, busy at home and just not enough time to craft and share their work. You all have not been forgotten but are truly missed. We aren’t going anywhere so whenever you have the time, hop right back in. 😉
I have met so many wonderful people through sharing my work here on Steemit and I am forever grateful for the positive impact you all have had on me.
Here is a glance back on my 2018 with #NeedleWorkMonday and the @needleworkmonday community...
This was the month we started our community projects. ‘Project Niccu Warmth’ where we made tiny little hats for preemie babies and ’Project Warm A Soul’ where we made scarves to wrap around trees for someone in need to have. I also had fun crocheting ninja turtle hats for all of my boys!
I started selling my hats in a local hat shop and helped my daughter sew a pillow for her friend’s birthday.
Here is the beginnings of my baby’s shell blanket. I shared my experience at The Yarn Barn and made a post about my hobby. This lion security blanket was my first amigurumi project!
I shared progress of my blanket as well as complained about all of the ends I would have to sew in. I started my beginner crochet series which I will get back to in 2019. My daughter modeled the outfits my mother made for her and we had a #needleworkmonday challenge. It was to write about why we love the initiative, who has impacted us the most and why should others join in.
I had so much fun sharing the hats I made for my baby girl with the flowers. There was more on my crochet series and the winners of the challenge was announced.
My blanket was finally completed and I shared how I stretched and straightened the edges. I shared the baby bag that was made and gifted to me by @horazwiwik and visited down memory lane showing some of my older projects.
The @needleworkmonday account was born and our first curation post arrived. I shared about the quilt my mother made our baby girl and the super adorable quilted baby cowgirl boots made and gifted to me by @apanamamama.
I was excited this month when I started the crocheted baby cardigan (pattern by the talented @neumannsalva)! I couldn’t wait to get this one going and completed so our baby could have it for the Fall weather. I still look forward to making myself one. My mother modeled her Bohemian vest that was made by a friend of the family.
Sewing classes began and I finished the cardigan! We started our upcycle challenge and I shared how I hot glued my loose ends so my projects have a neater finish.
Our sewing classes continue as we embark on our first projects! The first issue of The NeedleWorkMonday RUN (reports, updates and news) was released!
I took a break away for the whole month of November and started back up this month. I shared how I get longer use out of baby sleepers and the progress of our projects. We did a fun challenge called ’I Heart Steemit’ where you had to make a heart in whatever needle form of your choice and tell why you love Steemit and what keeps you here remaining a faithful blogger.
That is my #NeedleWorkMonday 2018 in a nutshell! I am so looking forward to what 2019 will bring for this community!
A big Thank You to all that support, show interests in what we do and encourage us to keep crafting!
