Garden Recap, So Far
Looking Out A Dirty Old Window
Today's pick
Sadly, not much to pick. unfortunately, While I was traveling, I do not thing my garden got much attention... including watering. Ahh well... I am back and being good to the bits and pieces, now. I grabbed a dozen raspberries, a Chocolate Sweet Pepper, and a San Marzano Plum Tomato.
The Raspberry bush is ready! Dozens more on at least 10 big branches, so in the next few weeks, I should see many more berries picked, each day.
Not bad for a little plant from a quart pot, purchased a few years ago.
The big Purple Butterfly bush is about 8 feet tall, and when not teeming with butterflies, including a few Monarchs, it positively vibrates with bees. The Hydrangea, still doing well, and a few others in the garden, still blooming and thriving.
Over by my bird baths, the shade loving planters are thriving, and the water itself is often a a gathering place for thirsty sparrows, cardinals, blue jays, mocking birds, flickers, and even a hawk or two.
Two plants I was worried about, for sentimental reasons... Above, some oregano from my grandfather, decades ago, and below, some mint, known in my family, as Papou's Mint, both seem to be doing well. They're growing in the ground, but also, I took clippings and potted them. I want to take both indoors this year, just in case.
Some Chocolate oregano growing... I havent been trimming it back, (Road Warrior lately) and it seems to be going green?
Finally, on the tomato plants... my Yellow Cherry seem to have a few, almost a dozen (some seen above)
The orange Cherry tomato, seems without any more fruit... red cherry tomato, maybe 6 or 8, left, to grow... the Grape Tomato seems to have a dozen more. My plum tomato, San Marzano, maybe three will come in. All in all, not bad...
All in all, I really cannot complain about life! Wonderful kids, amazing world, for me to see and take pictures. I hope that the next summer, and the one after and all the rest bring more of the same. For me, as a kid, growing up here, it's what I had... and one way or another, I always found my way back for a touch of life, here. I hope for my children, they, too will find their way back from whatever adventures life brings them, for a touch of Cape Cod Life, in summer!
Finally, the Hanging Strawberry plant above, maybe 3-4 a day, sometimes, as many as a dozen, each morning! And that, for much of the summer.
I'll give a final accounting, alter, but, more growing weeks to come!
To the animals and birds around me
to put more plants in than I take out
And be a good steward for the world around me!

That’s a whole load of things growing in your garden! I haven’t seen a pepper that colour before how unique - and those light blue flowers are a big attraction for butterflies my dad has something similar in his garden.

I also love the garden!
The raspberries end up in morning yogurt for my daughters.

Great variety of beautiful flowers! It seems a little too late for raspberries (or at least in my region) but you're lucky that you can still enjoy them :)
I have never tried chocolate oregano and you made me wonder about its taste. Is it very different to the normal one?
Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!
What a beautiful garden! I see that it produces good vegetables, it can be a great trade potential, don't you think? I am very visionary haha
I'm in love with your garden! 😋
Fertile grounds are important for good growth, and for seeds to take life.
You definitely have the coolest garden on PYPT! Love seeing all the stuff you're growing, and glad that you finally got to sample that Chocolate Pepper! 😃
