Thank you for your awesome submissions to the Water Wednesday Nature Photo Contest! The entries were judged by Scott Thompson (@scottshots). “Scott Thompson started Scott Shots Photography in 1998, he shoots mostly Tahoe area landscapes and produces a ton of real estate virtual tours. He sells big prints out of Lake Tahoe’s Vista Gallery and and he licenses his images as stock photography on a regular basis to local publications and businesses. Scott is a super proud Dad, his son @enak just got accepted into Woodbury University’s film program!”

”Thank you @shadalene and everyone who entered the #waterwednesday contest! That was a ton of fun looking at all of your photos, reading your comments, and “meeting” new photographers. Beautiful work everyone! When it came down to judging time, I learned that I am no Simon Cowell, this part was very difficult and I feel there are more submitted photos that deserved to make the winners list. I did my best to narrow it down to ten based on originality, composition, color, lighting, and how much it grabbed my attention when I scrolled through the entries. @alevaskye’s first place abstract photo really caught my eye. At first I wasn’t sure if it should qualify because I thought there was only a little bit of water in the shot, but when you open it up full screen you realize that about 2/3 of the photo is water and that you are not looking down a cliff but at a close up water’s edge scene. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it. Nice work @alevaskye! Thanks again everyone, Cheers!” ~ Scott

“Yes the color of that river is real. Took this on a wonderful hike up to Sahalie Falls on the McKenzie River in Central Oregon. PS-super easy hike just off the highway. I was in love with this water color!!!”

“Last year we spent a beautiful weekend floating in the crisp clear glacial fed waters of Annette Lake in the Rockies. I must say the temperature contrast up here between summer and winter is hard to fathom as an Australian. When were were up at this lake in winter it was a good 70 deg C (126 deg F) colder than it was on this summer day (from +35C down to -35C). Jasper National Park, Alberta. Canada”

“This is a simple 1 sec exposure taken on a rocky beach on the silver coast of Portugal. These rocks disappear entirely under the waves at high tide so I had to work quite quickly for this one.”

“This photo was taken at Natural Bridge in the Springbrook National Park in QLD, Australia. I was truly blessed while we were there that the sun was shining just in the right spot to hit the water and reflect the light up to highlight the top of the cave giving a great contrast with light and shade in the one photo.”

“This is my entry. It was shot very recently, 3 days ago during a hike through the forest. I'm slowly liking the symbiosis between hiking and photography - this was a first test of some dedicated hiking equipment. Unfortunately, I did not bring a tripod with me - so my exposure time was not as high as I wanted it to be. Further shot details can be found by clicking the image :)”
