Weekend Of and For The Birds- Part 2
Hi everyone! This is Part 2 to my true story "Weekend Of and For The birds. Part 1 can be read here if interested.
Part 1 ended with Sal keeping Hercules inside for 2 days and on day 3, he brought Hercules outside sitting him on tree branches but Hercules still didn't know how to fly. More on Hercules later.
Early Saturday morning my 2 grandsons arrived for a scheduled weekend visit. The oldest just turned 9 years old and the youngest just turned 7. They knew the story about Hercules and were able to meet him. The boys were in awe and learned a lot about robins, thanks to Sal.
The boy's had learned a few things about nature from school, and I have taught them a lot about butterflies and other insects. The next thing they wanted to do was go to the butterfly bush to see if there were any butterflies. But I had something to tell them first.
I knew there was a robin bird's nest in a forsythia bush at my neighbor's fence which is approximately 10 feet away from the butterfly bush.

I explained to the boys about the robin's nest and babies, and told them that we had to walk slowly and quietly to the butterfly bush so as not to upset them. The parents didn't make any noise so they must have been out getting food. I told the boys that they could have a quick look at the babies and that we had to leave as soon as the parents came back.

Very nice photos of robin bird and their babies! The eggs have very beautiful green color. I haven't seen these before.
It's great that your 2 grandsons can touch nature closely and learned a lot about nature from you. These are great experience for them, for sure. ;)
I am so happy that you could see something new from my photos @tangmo! : )
I didn't have anyone to teach me about nature so that is why I am teaching my grandsons and I am also teaching them to respect nature. I hope they remember what I taught them. : )
Ah! You are great grandma! Teaching them to respect and love nature is excellent! I admire you on this! ;)
Thank you! I will continue to teach them, no matter how old they get. : )
You're welcome! Oh! That'll be great! You are very kind to them indeed! ;)
So Hercules is a robin. Such great birds. I see them all the time. I actually talk to them. "Hello Mr. Robin. Enjoy your day." 😁 They have the best eggs.
Yes, Hercules is a robin but not from this brood. I like them too. I talk to the robins, cardinals and squirrels. Some people say that I need a life. LOL!
Cute robins. One built a nest right next to the laundry room at eye level in my old apartment. The mother got used to us all bringing in our laundry. The whole apartment complex got to see the little baby growing up and finally leave the nest. We dubbed it eggbert.

How cool is that?!?! Love the name eggbert. : )
My grandmother is the one who taught me to appreciate nature. Your grandson's are lucky to have you! Great photos!
I wish I had someone to teach me. I didn't appreciate nature until my kids were growing up and they were asking me a lot of questions. Sorry for the late reply. It is my first day back since your comment.
So many photos that I see here take me directly back to time spent with my grandparents over 50 years ago. They taught me the names of birds and flowers and how to grow things. I treasure all those memories!
I am happy to hear that I took you back to your fond memories from so long ago. I hope my grand-kids think of me 50 years from now. LOL!
My grandkids are teenagers and they are already surprising me with what they remember.... And what they have forgotten!
haha! very cool Butterfly, what a great education for the kids! That is too cool. Sorry I'm so late on this, I should be whipped!
You never have to apologize to me @janton. I am always late with my replies to you. Maybe I should be whipped? LOL!
Would you like me to use a belt or a bull whip? lol. yes, you should probably be ashamed of yourself. lol. No, I don't even think of such thinigs, I have no idea if someone keeps up with me or not. I got many people on autovote but I haven't gotten around to putting you on yet. But I'll get there eventually.
Hi jonboy! No need to put me on autovote. I love your comments on my posts though. : )
