Weekend Of and For The Birds- Part 1
The weekend of the birds began on Thursday evening @7:00 P.M. on 7/11/2019. Two of my neighbors and myself were sitting on my back porch talking when we heard my neighbor's boxer barking. The boxer lives two doors up from me in a fenced yard. Then we heard a bird screaming for its life. The boxer was pouncing at the bird (not on the bird) and he grabbed it in his mouth a threw it up in the air. He either wanted to play with the bird or maybe he thought it was a squeaky toy. One neighbor ran to the fence to distract the boxer while I ran to the front door and explained what was happening. The boxer was put inside and the bird, a fledgling robin, hopped through the fence to my next door neighbor's yard. The poor robin was petrified and wouldn't stop his "help me" chirp. It began to rain and we stayed in the yard to make sure the fledgling was in a safe place. It was in the middle of cement steps but it was the safest place in that yard. We finally left, hoping that the mother robin would come to take care of it. My next door neighbor, Sal came home at 9:00 P.M. and I explained the situation to him.
Friday, Sal told me that no adult robins had claimed the fledgling and when he saw a stray cat, Sal had no choice but to take the fledgling in. Mind you, it never stopped crying so Sal was also worried that it may have had injuries, not to mention how hungry the bird must be. Sal has helped sick and orphaned birds his whole life so he knew exactly what to do.
Amazingly, the fledgling didn't have any wounds, just traumatized and famished. Two days of rest and being feed worms and berries and he was a happy, calm bird. The 3rd day, Sal brought the robin outside, every hour on the hour putting it in the grass and on tree branches, but it still didn't know how to fly. Sal named the fledgling 'Hercules' because of everything he went through and survived.

Hi Hun! I am here and I am late, but so is Marianne. Tops for me. See ya in Freewrite Land. : )
How lucky for Hercules that you and your neighbors were there! 🤗 Sal sounds like just the right person for the little robin to be blessed to meet and I can't wait to read the next part.
We were all at the right place at the right time. No coincidence in my opinion. Things always happen for a reason. Thanks for staying tuned. : )
This story is amazing. Hope Hercules makes it!
Thanks so much Omra! I knew you would like it since you love birds. It might take a while to find out if Hercules makes it. I have more amazing photos of Hercules to show further into the story. : )

My Wednesdaywalk post today has a tiny little butterfly/moth. How do you tell the difference?
I will go have a look. Sometimes it can get tricky to tell the difference because there are many beautiful moths that look like butterflies. Moths are usually smaller and have drab colors.
Very cute little bird! Ah! Really nice name, 'Hercules'.... He's very lucky that you and your neighbor found him before it's too late. The boxer is very smart. In the meantime, if he thought the bird was a squeaky toy and enjoyed playing with the bird for hours, the bird would not survive, for sure.
I do hope that Hercules would get stronger and can fly very soon..... I am looking forward to reading Part 2 with much interest. ;)
Hercules is so cute and I fell in love with him. We tried not to get attached to him but it was hard not to. I am happy to hear that you like the story and interested in reading further. Thanks sis! : ) More birds to come and Part 2 has been posted.
You're welcome! Yeah! I enjoyed reading your stories! ;)
Howdy Butterfly! Great work there saving Hercules! lol. I'm sure he'll thrive now but we won't know if you guys get him to fly off..right?
Hi jonboy! Are you trying to get me to tell you the ending? LOL! That is when you will find out more about Hercules, at the end of the story. Stay tuned! : )
Is the next part posted yet? Never mind, I'll go see later! lol.
It sure is. I have posted up to Part 4. Tomorrow I will post the end of the story, Part 5.
thanks for the reminder, I'll get over there today.
