The Gumleaf Skeletoniser
These tiny caterpillars are known as Gumleaf skeletonisers (Uraba lugens). You can see where they get there name if you look at the last photo. This is all that a group of hungry skeletonisers leaves behind. Note too the strange protrusions coming from their heads. Can you see what it is? A caterpillar shed it's skin 5 or 6 times before pupating. In this species they wear their old skins like little hats. I never did understand fashion :-)
