The Eastern Spinebill

in #nature7 years ago

The Eastern Spinebill (Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris) is found down the east coast of Australia and south eastern areas including Tasmania. I get these birds in my backyard but I got these shots at the Rocky Cape National Park. These are nectar feeders, hence the long curved bill designed for getting down into the flowers.

They are not the easiest birds to photograph as they are small and constantly flitting about. I was happy with these shots despite the fact that the whites are blown out. These were taken with a Canon 7D and the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L lens.

Hi Alan. I recently used one of your eastern spinebill images as a reference in a mural I painted in South Gippsland. I'd like to share it with you - what's the best way to send images to you?
