Orange-rimmed Satin Moth
This moth ranks very highly among my favourite Lepidopterans. It is the beautiful, Orange-rimmed Satin Moth (Thalaina selenaea), of the family Geometridae. In eleven years at my current abode it has only turned up on two occasions. It is found through the south-eastern parts of Australia. It has a wing span of around 50mm. The larvae feed on the, leaf like, phyllodes of Silver Wattle (Acacia dealbata) and Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon).
