The Closer the Light, the Darker the Shadow [The relationship between the Sun and the Moon, and why we become so caught up with our thoughts during the colder months.]

in #nature8 years ago (edited)

I have begun to notice within myself, and outside of myself through the experience of others, that I have begun to focus inward a lot more than I already am used to as of recent. A friend asked this morning, "Why is Winter so intense?" Further clarifying that his question was in regards to the energies during the Winter months. I have done a lot of thinking about this idea as it is more than common for this occurrence to arise within myself every year. I've used the knowledge I've gained from studies in esoterica and philosophy to come to this conclusion. This is not a fact, this is my personal cognitive innerstanding. I am always open to other ideas and express sincerely that I would wish you to share them.

Humans are diurnal, meaning that we are most active during the day. Some would argue that we are also quite active during rest within our dream-states. I will refine this to say that we are most consciously active during the day; that is to say that during the daylight hours we are ruled by a conscious awareness which most identify as the Self.

This Self is most often a false identity that has been compiled through the interactions of mind and environment. This Self is what many refer to as the Ego. In my language, I refer to this Self as the False Ego. The True Ego is that which is borne unto an entity through nature, not designed through experience.

Being that we are, what I shall refer to as, Solar Beings (that we are most consciously active during daylight hours), we need the Sun to maintain focus on the conscious self. Winter is the time where the sun is closest to the Earth. During these times, the Sun imposes upon the Moon and takes over the imbalance of energy that is resulted in the increasingly shorter distance between the Earth and the Sun.

The energies of the Moon focus on the subconscious mind and the respective Jungian Shadow-self, while the Sun focuses on the conscious self and the Ego.

During the season of the Moon, we tend to become much more actively introspective and find the things within ourselves that have become troublesome which we've ignored during the season of the Sun. The focus on these energies allows for them to fully manifest in our conscious experience to be encountered repeatedly until a new choice has been made, to where the loop will then spiral outward and refine itself further on each pass of the incident.

So as we enter into this new Season of the Moon, I ask that you take into account all of the feelings you have and really analyze them. Look at the situations and the people that you come in contact with and ask yourself what lessons it is that you are needing to receive from these experiences. Learn from the moment, and love yourself. Do not become entangled with the knots and frayed ends within your tapestry, define the imperfections and continue your journey!
