Afternoon Dirt Road

in #mypictureday6 years ago (edited)

We just visited my in laws today and it was a very slow afternoon. Everyone was watching a movie and I was a bit getting bored. I figured to go out and check out the surroundings with my wife. Armed with my trusty Lumix we went out and found a dirt road which I have no idea where it leads. What seems common to some maybe fascinating for those who see the world in a different way.

Afternoon Dirt Road

Where does this dirt road lead to? There were some people passing and I felt it was safe to check out where it goes. Maybe there would be some interesting stuff to see. Most of the areas here were farmland before but now are being developed for subdivisions. There are still some little spots here and there with wide open spaces. A dry rice field with weeds growing and just beyond reach a water tank that supplies the area. Maybe after a few year houses would also replace the rice fields. This dirt road would be cemented and the growing trees and plants would soon be cut down. I am not sure when but it will happen.

At the moment let me just enjoy this walk with the plants and trees around me. This area is surprisingly breezy and the air a bit cooler than in my in laws residence. A quite perfect afternoon for a walk which what I always love.

Guava trees grows around here freely and this variant is called the Senorita which has a sweet taste. I was looking for a ripe one but sad to say I didn't any. I would have loved to pick one or two.

Of course there were banana trees around this road. I wonder who collects the banana when it ripens. I think it might be free for all.

Let's go further down this road and see what else we could find. Provincial life is quiet and peaceful no noises from vehicles. No honking sounds or crowded people just some locals passing by once in a while.

6.JPG

What do we have here? Some sort of fruit which I do not know and best just to leave it alone. Pinkish red and green which reminds me of a slice of watermelon.

7.JPG

Walking further I see this small stream or canal with a makeshift bridge made from small tree trunks.

8.JPG

Growing near the stream is a tree called Aratiles also know as Jamaican or Singapore cherry. A tree which I am very familiar of with with sweet little fruits that looks like a cherry. A lot of medicinal benefits like lowering blood sugar and blood pressure. Is is also said to prevent cancer. As a child we used to climb and play around the Aratiles tree. We climb and collect as much fruits as we can. I can see on this tree that some kids already made it their play place. The planks of wood on the branches is a fun way to play around this tree. A lot of ripe fruits just within reach is a great snack and you hang around with your friends.

I could not help to pick some of the fruits. I used some old branches to reach the higher ones. I was a bit embarrassed when there were passerby looking at me as I reached for the fruits. Good thing I was not alone lol. Brings back a lot of memories this sweet little fruit.

Here are some of our catch and will be taking it home to let @bearkid have a taste of this sweet little treat.

Time to head back and just one more look at the rice field overrun by weeds. I could say it was a pleasant afternoon walk in this quiet dirt road. I hope we'll be able to do this more often. It's like a therapy for me in this fast moving stressful world that I live in. I do not mind the time slowing down once in a while. Makes us think as see the world around us in a better perception.

Let me just chill for awhile just underneath this tree before we head back to small city. Hope you had fun in this short walk with me.

Have a pleasant evening or morning Steemians.

Very pretty pictures!! :)) I particularly love the ones where you can see the full field. The contrast in distances and lights looks gorgeous.

And the one with the fruit <3 I don't know what it is, and it doesn't look particularly strange, but the take makes it look exotic. Now I want to go to the fields and stare at the vegetation.

Hey how are you? I love that field view aswell. Kinda relaxing with the cool provincial breeze. Do go out as it is refreshing to get out once in a while with our usual daily rituals.

I'm alright, though a bit tired and stressed out. I can't stand being poor lol, it gets me anxious about losing it all any second.

But yeah, I should go out a little bit more to get these bad airs off of me. It's 8 pm though, don't wanna get robbed. I'll go out tomorrow to a birthday party and I'll check out those beautiful mountain sceneries once I'm there. :)

Wow. What an interesting walk. So much to see. Thanks for sharing it with us @watersnake101. 😊

Hey @gillianpearce glad you enjoyed it. Did you also like my hammock? Lol

I thought your hammock looked a bit precarious @watersnake101. 😂

Haha well I think you are right lol. Maybe a few more minutes I would have fallen over lol.

Wow, how beautiful it is there! Wonderful walk turned out))

Thank you very much. It was quite pleasant I hope I can do more walks which is very theraputic.

Dirt roads always lead to the most amazing places. Thanks for taking us on your walk!

You are very welcome. Dirt roads are the best you do not know what you would discover.
