A Night at Paseo De Santiago - MyPictureDay Submission
"A Night at Paseo De Santiago"
One of the famous attractions that you must visit when you are in Iligan City is the captivating Paseo de Santiago. It is a privately owned property located at the seaside of Barangay Santiago, Iligan City in the Philippines.
The place was still under development when I first visited it a couple of years ago. I am not certain about this but I heard that it was a dumping site before it was developed into what it is today. Whatever it was before, I am amazed of its great improvement today!
Since the place is a private owned property, they collect 10 pesos if you visit the place not later than 3PM while 20 pesos will be collected from 3PM onwards. Well that’s still cheap for an awesome place like this!
The place is perfect for family bonding and friends’ hangout as foods and drinks are also served there. The breeze of the sea also makes the place perfect to unwind and forget all the anxieties that life has brought us in our daily living.
By the way, the place is just 15 minutes away from where I currently live so I could go there anytime I want to! You will only pay 15 pesos for your back and forth fare.
And because of the charming lights, the live band, the breeze of the calm sea as well as the amazing view during sunset at Iligan bay, lovers also find this place ideal for deep, romantic and passionate conversation!
Aside from the location, the food, the ambiance etc., one thing that really attracts people to visit Paseo de Santiago is the signage of Iligan City! People might not notice it but it is purposefully placed so that the beautiful sunset in Iligan bay will be its background (in the afternoon).
Unfortunately, we arrived in the place at around 6PM and we missed the sunset that day. I will visit the place soon and I will make sure that I would capture its beautiful image. But anyway here’s a photo of @dnnjyz with the iconic “ILIGAN CITY” sign in the background.
I’d say that the signage has become the main attraction of Paseo de Santiago which has also made the place one of the best spots to visit when in Iligan City! So when you visit Northern Mindanao, you know already where to hang out and who to call haha!
One thing that really fascinated me is their decorative lights! Now I somehow understand why they charge 20 pesos entrance fee when you come later than 3 PM! The colorful lights which are installed in trees are really delightful!
I took some pictures but I really apologize for my novice photography skills! Anyway, enjoy the photos below!
This light post was an eye catcher! It really caught my attention so I took a couple of shots at different angles but I will only show you this one! It has the word "love" written inside the heart shape lamp. Very lovely! Very romantic! A great place for lovers indeed! LOL!
Let me also share this lamp with beautiful lights installed in a small tree! I found this lovely one while walking around the Paseo de Santiago's surrounding area.
You can also find a ”kalesa” effigy/sculpture inside Paseo de Santiago’s vicinity. A kalesa is one mode of transportation in the Philippines. It was introduced to us by Spanish colonizers during the 18th century (source wikipedia).
It is a horse-drawn calash used as transportation during the early 80’s and 90’s. However, this form of transportation is still used by Iliganons today. In fact you can ride kalesa in some places in Iligan like in Pala-o market or in Barangay Tambacan.
Anyway, this is what kalesa looks like.
Kalesa has various and significant meanings for us Filipinos. It symbolizes true identity of being a Filipino!
That's all for now and see you in my next travel and photography blog! Keep steeming!
I used iPhone 6s plus in taking all those images.
