My 2018: A Tour around my town: A Dose of Vitamin Sea in my Hometown San Fabian
I live in this humble coastal town of San Fabian, Pangasinan, Luzon, Philippines. We boast of our beautiful serene powdery-sand gray beaches.
It is an ideal place to jog, walk, have a picnic or even take your breakfast to the beach. Having breakfast, smelling the morning fresh sea breeze and looking at the calming plain view of the sea and sky is enough of a reason to visit our place.
A Little Secret:
If your name is nowhere near Sally Spendthrift, you can have your breakfast and stay the whole day along the beach for free. Yes, you read that right, FOR FREE. Just bring some chairs, or tables, or whatever you desire, or stay behind your car. No need to rent cottages (aw, sorry for the cottage owners, LoL!) ^_^
But before I take you in and around my town, I wanted to give a little background on where it is situated in the Philippines and a little bit of history.
Where exactly is San Fabian?
San Fabian has a latitude of 16°8'30.75"N and a longitude of 120°26'50.23"E or 16.141876 and 120.447285 respectively.
You can further check it here.
Looking at the world map, this is where the Philippines is located:

It is seated on the boundary of the Province of La Union and Pangasinan. Mainly the reason why San Fabian houses people who speak Ilocano, Pangasinan, and Tagalog.
A little bit of history of the place
The town used to be called Angio, and had been a mission territory of friars of the Dominican Order during the Spanish era.

San Fabian was founded on March 23, 1717. The town was named in honor of a crusading Pope, St. Fabian, who ruled the Roman Catholic Church for almost 13 years during the reign of the Roman Emperor Dictus.

It is a first class municipality, with 34 barangays.

No, it is not a surfing site. But still, the gentle waves are inviting to both the kids and kids at heart. It is very relaxing to just dip in this infinity pool, and have fun.

True, the sand is not as white as Boracay but just the same it boasts of its powdery fine gray sand. You will be greeted by one or two seashells so it won't hurt your barefooted feet.

MUST-SEE: SUNSET
One should not miss seeing the sunset here in San Fabian. It is beautiful. It gets a bit windy in late afternoons.

Today, was very windy, unusually windy. I aiming to capture the sunset, but too bad the wind might just blow me away so this is what I got.

While viewing the sunset you can rent in one of these bamboo nipa sheds for a meager price.

...Or you can stay overnight at a more high-priced resort.
Grey Sands
Actually, there are a lot of resorts lining the seacoast of San Fabian. Take your pick.

Must-try: Banca Ride
Another secret: You can always haggle to the boatman. Call them ading, meaning little brother/sister, and they will give you a discount. They are friendly. You can request another round of ride if you wish.
Now, check out San Fabian's Market:
Tricycles and Jeepneys are plenty so there is no worry of transportation.
Our town's market day is Monday. So a whole street is closed to cater to vendors of all kinds.
Check out my sister @juwel's street photography
There are vegetables:
Must-try: Dried fish, locally called tuyo or kaling.
*Here's a SECRET you should know: Best dipped in spicy vinegar and hot rice. Eaten with bare hands. Yum!
You could also try this smoked-fish, locally called tinapa. Best paired with tomatoes.
You must also try fresh seafoods. Not to wonder about the abundance of it iin San Fabian being a coastal town.
Sapsap and Sapatero
Some crabs and shrimps
Squid, locally known as pusit
and of course, Bonuan Bangus with the option of de-boning it.
Here's a SECRET: You could always ask manang to debone it for you for FREE. Then, tada! you have what is called as Boneless Bangus.
A secret:
Must try the Halo-halo, particularly "The Ferraro's" You can have a taste of this refreshing snack for only Php25. It is located inside the market and their halo-halo is comparable to the pricey Chowkings'.
Parade
San Fabian is also fond of hosting events and parades. During town fiestas, school's foundation day and children's festivals we are to expect a display of colorful parade.
Basically, San Fabian is just but an ordinary small town. But still, I hope you enjoyed my being a tourguide to our humble town.
