My Top 5 Favorite Posts in 2017 | Looking Back
Let's admit it. Regardless of the weight of effort we put into the posts we put out here on Steemit, we all have those posts that we feel stood out the most. That is, personally.
Take me, for example.
The calendar has since changed from 2017 to 2018, but I still couldn't help but look back to some of my favorite posts from the past year. These posts spurred growth on my end, and will always have a space in my heart. While I make sure to dedicate so much time and effort in any of my posts, there were those that I will never forget.
Are you willing to join me in this trip down memory lane? If yes, read on. If no, then hello to you, too.
The first one is on my very first contest here on Steemit. Like, ever.
Life minus Steemit, life plus Steemit, life ahead
Posted way back July 2017, I narrated and illustrated how I came across this platform and what my plans were in the future. While posting about art wasn't on my agenda (I was pushing for randomness, because I was seriously a random person), I didn't realize that it has become The Beginning.
What is The Beginning? It was the beginning of creating quality content for me. It was, for me, my beginning as content creator, period. I explored the possibility of integrating my hobby of drawing into story-telling, and I have since adapted to it.
Drawing the Twelfth Doctor | Doctor Who Fanart
Ah, the magic of growth. In this particular post, I finally found something I didn't know I'd been wanting to find: drawing style. I have been exploring traditional drawing around this time, and I decided on using colored pencils as media. By joining the Learn to Draw with Friends contest, I got to explore and learn a lot about drawing with cokored pencils. In this post, I realized that you can never truly satisfy yourself as an artist. Regardless of the output of your work, you will always find something that you think you could have done some other way.
And like the previous post, this is part of The Beginning. I became hypercritical of my work, my style, and my habits. I began to explore portrait drawing with colored pencils because of this.

Drawing Linkin Park's Chester Bennington | Stippling
I was so heartbroken after hearing of Chester's death. I had always been a huge Linkin Park fan, and his death took a huge chunk in my heart. As tribute, I drew Chester in pen, with a method that I found particularly agonizing, but definitely worth it: stippling.
Like many of my drawings posted here on Steemit, I shared the processes it took for me to finish drawing the portrait. Looking back, I felt like I achieved something new. I have never really tried portraits in pen before this, so it was, once again, a start!
A Page In My Life | Illustration
Remember when I said I started exploring the possibility of integrating my drawings into my stories? Here is the first time I did try. In this post, I narrated one of my embarrassing experiences in college: the Oblation run.
I drew in such a way that was definitely my style, and I fell in love with it! Since this post, I wrote and drew of my other experiences in life, and I'm happy people enjoyed it, too.

How I learned to code... in less than a week | And how you can, too
Like the rest of the posts I shared here, this particular post marks another beginning: me opening up about my work, and how I adapt to it. I shared tips and stories of how I learned to quickly adapt to a new programming language, and how others can do them, too.
As an aspiring artist, I never foresaw that I would end up in the STEM field, but here I am, learning more than I could have bargained for. This post also tells why I enjoyed what I do, and why I keep going.
How about you?
What were your personal favorite posts in 2017? Are you willing to look back on them today and in the coming days? If yes, then check out @rocking-dave's contest entitled Your 2017 Top 5. Possibly win SBDs, too! I did it (thanks to the invite by Ate Zara @zararina and her entry) and thoroughly enjoyed looking back. 💕
At this note, I nominate @arrliinn, @travelingmercies, @mysupermando, @zareceerine, and @raizel to walk down memory lane, be amazed or just simply laugh about your own old posts. 😉
