My 2017: Welcoming the new year - Cheers to 2018
365 days. That's the amount of time we had to prepare ourselves as better people welcoming 2018. The ups and downs, smiles, laughters and tears, joys and sadness, successes and failures, all molding us up to be a better version of us the next years. Leading us to have our own legacy.
If I write down everything that capsulated in 2017, a single post won't be enough. And I didn't want to bore you either so let's just go to how we welcome 2018.
If you have read my 2 posts; 2018's Eve Preparation - Part 1 and 2018's Eve Preparation - Part 2, then you must've an idea of how we prepared for new year's eve. With our little family of four, it used to be tedious as we also had to look after the two kids. Now they're 7 and 4 and have learned to help us with small things like finding things in the grocery and attend to themselves while me and Jonah are in the kitchen.
As we live in a compound along with my relatives, we usually cook just enough food for us and some for giving. This year we had T-Bone steak paired with buttered carrots and corn with mashed potatoes on the side, tuna carbonara, and some bread. Took half of the day to prepare them.
This year was unusually quiet. As the government made an order to ban fireworks they only had designated areas to light them up. It is part of the tradition to light up sparklers and blow off firecrackers - they say to shoo away negative vibes.
So, when the clock struck 12, everyone went to the streets to give each other hugs, to jump and to watch a little of fireworks.

After a good 45 minutes of socializing outside, it was finally time to eat!!!
You think she was ready to eat? Here's she after a couple of minutes;
Little boy just couldn't wait to get his teeth on that slab!
Since we didn't have tripod, we took turns to take pictures.
Now, this is what Jonah's mom never failed to do every nye, so yeah, we have it too!
Every year, all the male members from our community comes up with a shirt. This year's in green with our logo.
That booze had me and so did my wife. Hahaha (nah! just sleepy from all the cooking)
I don't know about your beliefs or traditions. If they work, that's good. If not, better ask yourself why. For me, doesn't matter if we didn't have much fireworks too shoo away bad vibes, or 12 fruits to bring us good luck, or wore polka dots to bring us good fortune. Outcome is always up to us.
