in #musicdiscovery6 years ago

HELLO STEEMIANS !

Welcome again to the Raving Foxes series focused on the most important names in techno. For the 9th episode foxes were forced to move their furry butts out from the their cosy forest and search for the legendary name rooted deep in the jungle(and drum'n'bass). Digging through those rough terrains they found a real treasure called Dax Heddon, a London,UK born, and Berlin-based artist widely known as

DAX J

Since teenage times Dax was constantly under a strong influence of the local pirate stations streaming Drum And Bass, Jungle and Garage. Earlier, in the childhood, together with his older sister he was listening to the bands like Massive Attack or The Prodigy. Listening quickly became a bigger passion and pushed him into the DJing on the local radios. Day-offs from the school to buy vinyls at Black Market in Soho fluently became something normal and quite usual. In that time, around 2001, beside of DJing, Dax focused on production drum and bass music. His first-ever vinyl release took a place in 2006 on the Urban Takeover label while he was producing under alias Dangerous.

Dangerous - Desert Eagle

Later in the same year Dax J together with Trillium released one more 12" in drum and bass style, already under his current alias. On the wax you can find two unique rollers Dax J & Trillium - Doomsday and Dax J & Trillium - Slow da Bass. His vinyl was pressed by Xplicit Recordings and catalogued as XPLICIT001, which means it was the first release of this label. Foxes sniffed around that it was the first and the last imprint for both Trillium and Xplicit Recordings. Next months were also less productive for Heddon, caused loosing somewhere his devoted passion for drum and bass. During the summer in Ibiza, he discovered and quickly became obsessed with cutting edge 4x4 vibes, spending days on producing new tunes. After 3 years, in the first part of 2010 the whole world was able to enjoy the techno debut from Dax J

After 8 years from that time Dax Heddon established his name in the underground culture as one of the most forward-thinking producer, constantly striving to push the boundaries of audio manipulation into the new, unexplored realms. Degree educated in Music Technology helped him in building up his private studio in the capital city of Germany, Berlin, where he focuses on a Sound and Mastering Engineer. In the interview for Dekmantel he admits, that he is able to stay in studio up to 20h per day constantly producing new gems.

Beside of spending days in studio and playing around 10 or more mind-blowing gigs per month, Dax J runs EarToGound Records together with Gareth Wild and Chris Stanford where they are founding members of this British techno-label formed in 2011. This respected institution recognizable as a good supplier of quality new Techno promote music from artists like Ben Sims, Camea, DJ Deep, Dustin Zahn, FJAAK, Henning Baer, James Zabiela, Joel Mull, Marco Bailey, Ryan Elliott, Shlomi Aber and Stephanie Sykes. Dax J is also a foudner of Monnom Black, berlin-based label active since 2013. Established as an idea of outlet to release his own vision of techno through his or the other artist's music. It is a platform for sharing a private taste of techno. Beside of running those two, Dax also releases on other labels like Deeply Rooted House, Soma, Mindtrip, Arts and Fondation Sonore.

Dax J - Black Pegasus [MONNOM007]

Promoting sounds of Dax J through his and other labels helped to build a quite impressive discography with 32 Singles & EP's and two highly acclaimed full albums. The first one, Shades Of Black, released in 2015 via Monnom Black was a huge success and gave him a pass into the biggest clubs and festival stages. Awarded as "Album of the Month" by Mixmag, it was also Number One Spot on Juno Records for a long time. Announcement from the beginning of the 2018 about upcoming second and the most eclectic album pushed Raving Foxes almost into the insanity through constant stalking Dax on the social media. Released in April 2018 also via Monnom Back, LP fluently blends genres like acid, industrial and techno with movies' samples, jungle and IDM. This energetic production inspired by the idea of “public morality", such as drug abuse, racism or prostitution was perfectly turned into the blazing visionary sounds of Dax J and presented on the 2nd LP called "Offending Public Morality".

Dax J - Offending Public Morality [MONNOM014]

Sniffing here and there foxes found out that there might me a second reason and a longer story behind "Offending Public Morality". During Orbit Festival Tunisia 31.03-1.04.2017 Dax J dropped a short techno remix of Muslim “Call To Prayer / Adhan” which fired a huge scandal. A nightclub has been shut down and the manager detained for "violations against good morals and public outrage against modesty". Tunisian court found Dax Heddon guilty for "public indecency and offending public morality", sentenced him for a one year in prison. Luckily for his fans, during the court case he was already abroad. After this situation, Dax J posted an apology statement on the Facebook. Unfortunately, probably he will not show up in this country for at least 5 years so if you are an upset Tunisian, curious reader or devoted fan, in this year you will have an opportunity to hear Dax J live in Luxembourg, France, Germany, UK, Poland, Colombia, Netherlands, Serbia, Ireland and Australia.
